Synopsis From Pythagoras to Salt Lake City by : John Andreadakis
Here is an expanded perspective of Greek History and aspects of both old and Modern Greek history that you would not find elsewhere. Greek and Hebrew languages and writing have nothing in common, yet their alphabets are identical. What does this mean? Where was the Greek language developed? Was it developed in Athens? No, not really. Pythagoras left his country to learn. He learned mathematics to teach us even in our days. But he also found the existence of a true and caring God and wanted his people to know it also. As Pythagoras of old in a similar fashion, the author of this book left Greece and immigrated to the United States to learn electronics. He used to think that religion was the knowledge of stories about good men God loved, but only in the old days, not today. Two young missionaries knocked on his door and taught him that a true religion is a set of principles we needed to strive to learn and follow. How can a person know if a church is true? The author's life combined with the discovery of such principles gave him a happier way of life and his children are blessed because of it also. Faith, humility, honesty, integrity, and many other principles are what our world is in need of today and are well documented in this book. These principles make everyone a better person, a happier person in a better society. Is Salt Lake City a good milestone? It has been for this author and for many other people from all walks of life.

Synopsis Foundations of Diatonic Theory by : Timothy A. Johnson
Foundations of Diatonic Theory: A Mathematically Based Approach to Music Fundamentals is an introductory, undergraduate-level textbook that provides an easy entry point into the challenging field of diatonic set theory, a division of music theory that applies the techniques of discrete mathematics to the properties of diatonic scales. After introducing mathematical concepts that relate directly to music theory, the text concentrates on these mathematical relationships, firmly establishing a link between introductory pedagogy and recent scholarship in music theory. It then relates concepts in diatonic set theory directly to the study of music fundamentals through pedagogical exercises and instructions. Ideal for introductory music majors, the book requires only a general knowledge of mathematics, and the exercises are provided with solutions and detailed explanations. With its basic description of musical elements, this textbook is suitable for courses in music fundamentals, music theory for non-music majors, music and mathematics, and other similar courses that allow students to improve their mathematics skills while pursuing the study of music.

Synopsis Fibonacci Analysis by : Constance Brown
Only someone who is both a successful trader and a successful writer could pull off what Constance Brown has accomplished in this book: distilling Fibonacci analysis to two hundred or so comprehensive, clearly written, eminently practical pages. Brown knows exactly what a professional trying to come up to speed on a new trading tool needs and she provides it, covering what Fibonacci analysis is, how it works, where it comes from, pitfalls and dangers, and, of course, how to use it. Basic trading strategies are touched upon in virtually every chapter. Fibonacci analysis is one of the most popular technical analysis tools, yet it is often used incorrectly. Brown quickly clears up common misconceptions and moves on to show, step by step, the correct way to apply the technique in any market. Those with Fibonacci analysis software will learn how to use it with maximum effectiveness; those without will chart the market the old-fashioned way. All will find answers to the trader's most important questions: Where is the market going? At what level should my stop be entered? Based on the size of my trading account, how much should I leverage into a trading position? Can I tell if I am in trouble before my stop is hit? How much should I buy or sell if given a second or third opportunity? Occasional references to other tools--including Elliott Wave, W.D. Gann, and candlestick charts--and an extensive bibliography make this book richer for accomplished technical analysts without confounding the less experienced. Plentiful real-life examples and dozens of carefully annotated charts insure every reader will get maximum value from every minute spent with this book. Synopsis The Colorado Mathematical Olympiad and Further Explorations by : Alexander Soifer
This updated printing of the first edition of Colorado Mathematical Olympiad: the First Twenty Years and Further Explorations gives the interesting history of the competition as well as an outline of all the problems and solutions that have been created for the contest over the years. Many of the essay problems were inspired by Russian mathematical folklore and written to suit the young audience; for example, the 1989 Sugar problem was written in a pleasant Lewis Carroll-like story. Some other entertaining problems involve olde Victorian map colourings, King Authur and the knights of the round table, rooks in space, Santa Claus and his elves painting planes, football for 23, and even the Colorado Springs subway system.
