Synopsis Erie Lackawanna by : H. Roger Grant
This 50-year saga of the "Weary Erie" describes in vivid detail the turbulent last decades of a colorful, spunky, and innovative railroad. It also tells us much about what happened to American railroading, during this period: technological change, governmental over-regulation, corporate mergers, union "featherbedding," uneven executive leadership, and changing patterns of travel and business. The book is illustrated with 45 photographs and drawings and 4 maps.

Synopsis Erie Lackawanna in Color: New York state by : Larry DeYoung
The heart of the freight carrying portion of the Erie Lackawanna Railway was arguably in New York State, between Hornell and - Binghampton, where traffic from several routes was funnelled together on one concentrated mainline across the Southern Tier. In this, the fourth in a series covering the Erie Lackawanna and its predecessors, we explore the EL's lines leading into, and out from that main core.

Synopsis Erie Lackawanna Recipes by : Joel Long
This book consists of articles, menus, and all of the documented recipes from the Erie; Delaware Lackawanna & Western and merged Erie Lackawanna Railroads. On October 13, 1956 the dining car departments were merged together, coinciding with the Erie moving its long distance trains from its Jersey City Pavonia Terminal to the Lackawanna's Hoboken Terminal. The two railroads completely merged to form the Erie Lackawanna Railroad on October 17, 1960. Dining car service continued until the last long distance train, the Hoboken to Chicago Lake Cities, completed its last run on January 5, 1970. Recipes were released by the EL dining car department to its chefs as Orders. They are reproduced exactly as the original mimeographed pages appeared. In addition to the recipes you will find cooking tips and plating instructions. Some of these recipes might not meet today's culinary tastes, but they are still interesting to read and even to try making a few!
