Synopsis Egyptian Wall Painting by : Francesco Tiradritti
"Egyptian Wall Painting focuses on two-dimensional depictions in ancient Egypt, examining them as part of an elaborate code designed to maintain the so-called Maat - or Cosmic Order, Truth-Justice, and Universal Harmony - and thus integral to Egyptian lives and beliefs. It conducts this study through two different lenses: that of Western rational analysis, with its emphasis on methods and techniques, and that of ancient Egyptian spirituality, which these complex works have handed down to our own time." "Illustrated with 350 color plates, including numerous full-page details printed on a special matte paper designed to simulate the feel of the stuccoed limestone on which the original images were painted, Egyptian Wall Painting illuminates an art, language, and culture of extraordinary richness. The definitive treatment of its subject, it is sure to appeal to art historians, Egyptologists, linguist, and connoisseurs interested in one of history's most complex and influential civilizations."--BOOK JACKET.

Synopsis Colour and Painting in Ancient Egypt by : W. V. Davies
This volume arises from the International Colloquium on Colour and Painting in Ancient Egypt, organized by the Department of Egyptian Antiquities in the British Museum in 1996. Contributions range from the search for accurate methods of recording painted scenes on the monuments, through ancient painting techniques, to the symbolic meaning of colour to the ancient Egyptians, an understanding of which allows a better appreciation of their artistic creations. The application of the latest scientific techniques to ancient pigments is also well represented, a field of study that casts new light on the materials used to create the artistic masterpieces of Egypt.

Synopsis In the Tomb of Nefertari by : Robert Steven Bianchi
The most lavishly decorated tomb in ancient Egypt was constructed for Queen Nefertari, wife of Rameses the Great. The Getty Conservation Institute has been instrumental in the effort to restore the tomb’s magnificent wall paintings, and in the fall of 1992, to mark the project’s completion, an exhibition was held at the Getty Museum. The exhibition included a model of the tomb and full-scale reproductions of the wall paintings. The publication describes the conservation work (including before and after photographs), outlines the life of Nefertari, and places the tomb in the context of Egyptian art history.
