Synopsis The Protector (The Taskforce Series, Book 1) by : Marliss Melton
Discover the Cost of Freedom and the Power of Love in The Protector, Book One in the Taskforce Series, a Romantic Military Suspense Novel from Marliss Melton In the serene embrace of the Blue Ridge Mountains, former Navy SEAL Ike Calhoun thought he had escaped the shadows of the War on Terror. But destiny intervenes when an old friend calls, catapulting him back into a world he thought he'd left behind. A woman marked by her father's legacy in Afghanistan, Eryn McClellan isn't just the ISAF general’s daughter; she's the focus of a high-stakes game played by ambitious federal agents and a crazed jihadist. The only safe place for her is in Ike’s remote cabin, where her unsettling presence disrupts his self-imposed isolation. Ike instructs Eryn in ways to defend herself and, yet, with her grace and resilience, it is she who dismantles the walls around Ike's heart, allowing him to feel again. As the FBI's strategies turn riskier—using Eryn as bait to catch the extremist—a fierce protective instinct awakens in Ike Calhoun. Compelled to shield the general’s daughter at any cost, Ike finds in Eryn not just a mission, but a burning motivation to confront his past and protect a future that suddenly seems worth fighting for. "The kind of intrigue I enjoy; much like Tom Clancy, Vince Flynn, David Baldacci, and Steig Larsen. They have nothing on her." ~Lt. Col. John Lund, U.S. Air Force, ret. Synopsis Danger Close! by : Phil Gioia
Phil Gioia grew up an army brat during the decades after World War II. Drawn to the military, he attended the Virginia Military Institute, then was commissioned in the U.S. Army, where he completed Jump School and Ranger School. Not even a year after college graduation, he landed in Vietnam in early 1968—in the first weeks of the Tet offensive, which marked a major escalation of the war. Leading a platoon in the 82nd Airborne Division, Gioia took his paratroopers into the lifting of the siege of Hué—where death was always just around the corner—and the grisly discovery of mass graves of those executed by the Vietcong, during their occupation of the city. Wounded, he was sent home in April. Released from hospital, he commanded a paratroop company in the 82nd Airborne in 1968, returning to Vietnam with the hard-hitting First Air Cavalry Division a year later, this time leading a rucksack company of light infantry. Inserted into far-flung landing zones, Gioia and his men patrolled the jungles and rubber plantations along the Cambodian border, looking for a furtive enemy who preferred ambushes to set-piece battles and nighttime raids to daylight attacks. Danger Close! recounts the Vietnam War from the unique boots-on-the-ground perspective of a young officer who served two tours in two different divisions. He tells his story thoughtfully, straightforwardly, and always vividly, from the raw emotions of unearthing massacred human beings to the terrors of fighting in the dark, with red and green tracers slicing the air. Hard to put down and hard to forget, Danger Close! will remind readers of the best Vietnam memoirs, like Guns Up! and Baptism.

Synopsis Danger Close by : Robert Grandin
Now a major motion picture. This is the first time that those in direct command of Delta Company have shared their memories of the most significant battle fought by Australians in Vietnam, the Battle of Long Tan. They describe the experiences that brought them to Vietnam, and how Company commander Harry Smith drove Delta Company to become one of the most outstanding units in the Australian forces. Each platoon played a crucial role in Delta Company's survival. The artillery's commitment in providing an unbroken wall of metal through which the enemy had to advance is told from the perspectives of both the forward controller and the gun positions. We fly with the RAAF helicopter pilots whose ammunition resupply was the turning point of the battle, and experience the carnage of the battlefield through the eyes of those in the relieving APCs. The trauma of the battle did not end with the action, however, as politics began to play its part in the drama. The valour of those directly involved in the battle was never duly recognised. The ongoing efforts of the Long Tan commanders to right the many wrongs perpetrated in the wake of the battle, and their own journeys from the events of August 1966 draw the reader into a compelling dialogue on the aftermath of Vietnam. Previously published as The Battle of Long Tan: As told by the commanders
