Synopsis DADDY'S LITTLE DARLINGS by : Megumu Minami

And I'm not even sure if the marriage is going to work... Daphne overheard the conversation between her husband Alex and her father-in-law, and even though she had just found out she was pregnant, she ran back to her parents' house and one-sidedly sent them divorce papers. However, shortly after giving birth to triplets, Daphne was taken back by Alex, and he declared that he would be "the kind of husband you'd never want to leave" by two weeks after their anniversary...

Ashby's Action Hero Daddy is the first book in the Bright Lights Little Darlings series. It takes place in the glitter and glam world of celebrities, and in Clover City. It stars a wide-eyed innocent with a spine of steel, and a sexy leading man who's determined to save the day and his little girl.

Synopsis Twisted Roots, Standing Tall by : Anne de Nada

Childhood sexual abuse is the most traumatic of all wounds, for it is a betrayal at the very root of our being. It turns us against ourselves in such a way that, more often than not, victims become convinced that the fault is theirs. To find a way back from that injury, to prevail and rise above it, is to do the seemingly impossible. In Twisted Roots, Standing Tall, author Anne de Nada recounts her long dance from the darkness of the soul into the love and light of an open heart, as she courageously heeds her soul’s insistence and clears away her legacy of trauma from both infant sexual abuse and incest. Born into both emotional and economic poverty, Anne’s early life consisted of only obstacles and challenges. But she never gave up, and she continually trusted in her own guidance, being rewarded with insight and wisdom. Whenever it felt like her life was not flowing, she took that as a sign that it was time to do more healing, clearing away the trauma that lay embedded deep in cellular memory. Anne’s story speaks to the gift of grace and the indomitable courage of the human heart. As Anne continued to heal, she discovered many essential truths about life, among them that we are never given something we cannot handle, that life is about manifesting the deepest desires of our hearts, and that the thing we most fear is our own greatness.

Synopsis George Beneath A Paper Moon by : Nina Bawden

'A cast of nice, idiosyncratic characters . . . in the Turkish political climate' NEW YORK TIMES 'She held her readers' attention with her taut, inventive unfolding of twists and turns' GUARDIAN 'The comedy lies, as in the best and subtlest of comedies, in the exquisite patterning' NEW STATESMAN George is an unusually successful travel agent, providing other people with the adventures he dare not risk. Though content to wrap himself in fantasies, he is haunted by the fact that 'the important things happened whilst his back was turned' and by the belief that he fathered the daughter - now a desirable young woman - of his best friends, Sam and Claire. To avoid temptation, George stumbles into a disastrous marriage and determines to mould himself into a supportive husband. But a holiday in Turkey snaps his private world when George finds himself in the midst of intrigue and murder and is forced to acknowledge that life is not the fairy-tale he'd imagined. In this superbly constructed and mercilessly observed novel, part comedy, part thriller, Nina Bawden exposes the fictions we impose on our lives.

Synopsis Michel Foucault: Personal Autonomy and Education by : J.D. Marshall

This book is designed to serve two purposes. First it provides an introduction to the ideas and works of Michel Foucault. It should be particularly appropriate for education students for whom, in general, Foucault is a shadowy presence. Second, it provides a Foucault based critique of a central plank of Western liberal education, the notion of the autonomous individual or personal autonomy. There are several introductions to Foucault but they tend to be written from a particular theoretical position, or with a particular interest in Foucault's ideas and works. For example Smart (1986) and Poster (1984) exemplify the former, and Dreyfus and Rabinow (1983) the latter. There is no substantial work in education on Foucault, apart from Ball (1990), which is an edited collection of papers by educationalists. The writer started reading Foucault from a position in education which was in the liberal framework, somewhere between Dewey, Freire and Habermas, but with an interest in punishment, authority and power. The book is the outcome of several years of trying to introduce students in education to his ideas and works in an educationally relevant manner. But an introduction, on its own, cannot show this relevance to education. Unless his ideas are put to work, unless they are used as opposed to mentioned in some sphere or area of education, then they may be of little relevance.
