Synopsis Countercurrent Chromatography by : Jean-Michel Menet
Covering definitions, concepts, and applications, Countercurrent Chromatography recounts the developments in two types of liquid-liquid chromatography termed countercurrent-high-speed countercurrent chromatography (HSCCC) and centrifugal partition chromatography (CPC)-as well as the HSCCC-derived cross-axis CCC, a versatile technique for purification in biotechnology applications. The text investigates mechanisms for mixing liquid phases, particularly hydrostatic techniques for CPC and hydrodynamic for coil planet centrifuges. It also explores the use of countercurrent chromatography in inorganic analysis, chiral separation, and the separation of natural products.

Synopsis Countercurrent by : Jessica Gunn
Atlantis has been defeated, but countercurrents still remain… With Atlantis now out of the picture, TAO and the Navy have created a vessel capable of Link Piece travel: the Atlas. But their aim to freely explore time to better understand the Atlantean and Lemurian war ignores the bigger threat that the Atlantean Prince had warned them: the White City. Though Chelsea has given her opposition to the military’s plans, her disagreements have fallen on deaf ears. Instead she works to ensure the Atlas is as secure as possible and hopes for the best, an optimism that’s brought her and Trevor closer than ever. But countercurrents run in their midst, and when Pearl Harbor is attacked, nearly destroying the Atlas in the process, Chelsea discovers that people she’s trusted most since joining SeaSatellite5 years ago have not only betrayed her in all the deepest ways… They were never on her side at all.

Synopsis Countercurrent Chromatography by : A. Berthod
Countercurrent chromatography (CCC) is a separation technique in which the stationary phase is a liquid. The mobile phase is also a liquid, so biphasic liquid systems with at least two solvents are used. Centrifugal fields are used to hold the liquid stationary phase while pushing the liquid mobile phase through it.This comprehensive reference covers recent advancements in the two types of CCC machines: the high speed CCCs without rotary seals and with coiled spools and centrifugal partition chromatographs (CPC) with rotary seals and interconnected channels. Written by leading international experts in the CCC field, the book focuses on the liquid nature of the stationary phase: giving newcomers the basis to do CCC efficiently and rapidly; explaining the art of obtaining a biphasic liquid system; describing the flow patterns in both CPC and high speed CCC machines; showing possible other uses of a liquid stationary phase; presenting a wealth of applications in the separation of organic, pharmaceutical and inorganic mixtures; and demonstrating that even supercritical fluids can be used in CCC.

Synopsis Counter-Current Extraction by : Stanley Hartland
Counter-Current Extraction: An Introduction to the Design and Operation of Counter-Current Extractors provide useful conclusions and results pertaining to counter-current extraction. This book aims to present illustrations of the various mathematical techniques as tools as well as means to an end. Organized into eight chapters, this book begins with an overview of the various aspects of the transfer of a single solute between two immiscible phases in counter-current flow. This text then describes all possible factors and obtains their relationship to the extraction factor and number of stages or transfer units. Other chapters consider the flows and concentrations in counter-current forward and back extraction. This book discusses as well the optimization of forward and back extraction using counter-current flow in differential and stagewise extractors. The final chapter deals with further applications of counter-current extractions. Undergraduates and researchers involved in the design and operation of counter-current extractors will find this book useful.

Synopsis Measurement of the California Countercurrent by : Keith Coddington
Direct measurements by moored current meters and indirect measurements from geostrophy are compared and discussed for a region over the continental slope off central California during the Davidson Current period. During that same period vertical temperature and salinity profiles were made at 23 stations on four separate cruises in the study area south of Monterey, California. These arrays of moored current meters simultaneously recorded the flow of the current at specified levels. The California Countercurrent was found to be present in the region of study during the entire observation period. Its offshore position and extent, its intensity and its vertical location and extent varied in a way largely consistent with its reported behavior in other locations along the U.S. West Coast.
