Synopsis Don't Count Me Out by : Rafael Alvarez

Don't Count Me Out chronicles the life of Bruce White from the beginning of his drug use in elementary school through criminal acts fueled by his need for drugs, to his miraculous recovery three decades later and involvement in the treatment of addicts, where he is now a leader in the rehabilitation field. Rafael Alvarez's recounting of White's journey should inspire those dealing with the fallout of addiction. Alvarez, a journalist and screenwriter, allows the reader to get inside the head of an addict who was stealing alcohol from his parents at the age of nine, selling drugs and tripping on LSD and PCP by the time he hit seventh grade, and hooked on morphine before he turned fifteen. "Bruce White? I thought he was dead?" is a response encountered in many of the interviews Alvarez conducted. Don't Count Me Out shines a spotlight on an improbable and stunning miracle. Though this is just one person's story, the contributing factors of early sexual assault, the role of permissive preoccupied parents, and the need for peer approval, among others, will resonate with many as the opioid crisis continues to haunt us.

Synopsis Count Me In by : Varsha Bajaj

An uplifting story, told through the alternating voices of two middle-schoolers, in which a community rallies to reject racism. Karina Chopra would have never imagined becoming friends with the boy next door--after all, they've avoided each other for years and she assumes Chris is just like the boys he hangs out with, who she labels a pack of hyenas. Then Karina's grandfather starts tutoring Chris, and she discovers he's actually a nice, funny kid. But one afternoon something unimaginable happens--the three of them are assaulted by a stranger who targets Indian-American Karina and her grandfather because of how they look. Her grandfather is gravely injured and Karina and Chris vow not to let hate win. When Karina posts a few photos related to the attack on social media, they quickly attract attention, and before long her #CountMeIn post--"What does an American look like? #immigrants #WeBelong #IamAmerican #HateHasNoHomeHere"--goes viral and a diverse population begin to add their own photos. Then, when Papa is finally on the road to recovery, Karina uses her newfound social media reach to help celebrate both his homecoming and a community coming together.

Synopsis Don’t Count Me Out by : Bishop Wellington Williams

Just like many Christians around the world, Bishop Wellington Williams is challenged to broaden his understanding and experience a deeper appreciation for the Creator. As a passionate student of the word of God, he understands that sometimes, despite our best efforts, it is easy to become sidetracked as a disciple of Christ Jesus. In an inspirational guide shared to restore confidence, spiritual revitalization, and motivation to a dying church, Bishop Williams relies on scripture to offer insight into the four important dimensions that are essential for a smooth correlation between God and people as well as the existence of humankind on Earth: Listening, Observation, Processing, and Decision-making. While addressing the shortcomings of the church to lead its followers in the right direction through clarity, restoration, strength, and recovery, Bishop Williams reroutes the word of God to its original position in order to restore its purpose and gently remind Christians how simple it is to receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Don’t Count Me Out is a spiritual guide that relies on scripture to lead followers of Christ to the truth and breathe life back into a dying church.

Synopsis Don’T Count Me out Yet by : Eleanor M. Newby

This book is about my many battles with cancer. I have had cancer six times and I am currently on chemo as maintenance for precaution measures. In addition to cancer, I have had other health issues over the years including two complete knee replacements. This book is also about my life and my children and grandchildren and family, but it is mostly to show people there is life after cancer and to never give up. I was born into humble beginnings in a little town called Bluff City, Virginia. I was one of six siblings. I had two brothers and three sisters. I was the next to last. We didnt have much growing up, but we had each other and a lot of love. I went to school in Narrows, Virginia and graduated in 1964. I met my husband, Roy, in 1967 and we were married a year later after his tour of duty in Vietnam. We had two boys, Randy and Rusty, and three grandchildren. I worked at a local factory for 37 years until my retirement in 2004. I have always loved to write. I have written many poems and stories, mostly for personal use. This is my first book, but I felt I had a story to tell and I hope it will encourage others who are either going through the same battle or who have been through it.

Synopsis Count Me In by : Emily White

Combining the intelligence of Quiet with the personal stories and realistic advice of The Happiness Project, Count Me In is for everyone who feels their lives could use a little more real-life connection, at home, in their neighbourhoods, and in the wider world. A thoughtful, lively, and practical roadmap for anyone who wants to feel more connected, and who wants their life to feel bigger, more grounded, and true. Emily White's first, nationally bestselling book, Lonely: Learning to Live with Solitude, made her an international expert on loneliness as a distinct condition (not just part of depression or the result of social awkwardness), intensified by many of the hallmarks of modern life. Count Me In is a warm, readable, lively combination of personal memoir and solid research framed as a "come with me" guide, as Emily looks both deeply into her own and her family's past and broadly into contemporary culture to discover the path to feeling more connected. She tackles home, neighbourhood, faith, and more, and brings an incisive, questioning mind as well as an open and willing heart to her quest. As a result Count Me In is a mix of practical advice and lived experience, a rich reading experience and a practical tool for improving one's life.
