Curators, archivists, collections managers, preparators, registrars, educators, students, and others contribute.

The mission of the International Journal of Educational Reform (IJER) is to keep readers up-to-date with worldwide developments in education reform by providing scholarly information and practical analysis from recognized international authorities. As the only peer-reviewed scholarly publication that combines authors’ voices without regard for the political affiliations perspectives, or research methodologies, IJER provides readers with a balanced view of all sides of the political and educational mainstream. To this end, IJER includes, but is not limited to, inquiry based and opinion pieces on developments in such areas as policy, administration, curriculum, instruction, law, and research. IJER should thus be of interest to professional educators with decision-making roles and policymakers at all levels turn since it provides a broad-based conversation between and among policymakers, practitioners, and academicians about reform goals, objectives, and methods for success throughout the world. Readers can call on IJER to learn from an international group of reform implementers by discovering what they can do that has actually worked. IJER can also help readers to understand the pitfalls of current reforms in order to avoid making similar mistakes. Finally, it is the mission of IJER to help readers to learn about key issues in school reform from movers and shakers who help to study and shape the power base directing educational reform in the U.S. and the world.

This focus issue of the journal draws attention to “Collections in a Digital Age.” The essays are, like digital public history itself, multi-faceted showing a variety of possibilities, opportunities, challenges, and best-practices at a range of institutions or dealing with an assortment of historical materials. The contributions are drawn from working group activity at the April 2015 annual meeting of the National Council on Public History.

Four articles cover collections care; historical research methods; historical markers, signage, and public programming online; and digital repository. Books reviews cover museums and innovation, collections and collecting practices, special collections, constructions of knowledge, and digital rights management and digital repositories.

The Calculus Collection is a useful resource for everyone who teaches calculus, in high school or in a 2- or 4-year college or university. It consists of 123 articles, selected by a panel of six veteran high school teachers, each of which was originally published in Math Horizons, MAA Focus, The American Mathematical Monthly, The College Mathematics Journal, or Mathematics Magazine. The articles focus on engaging students who are meeting the core ideas of calculus for the first time. The Calculus Collection is filled with insights, alternate explanations of difficult ideas, and suggestions for how to take a standard problem and open it up to the rich mathematical explorations available when you encourage students to dig a little deeper. Some of the articles reflect an enthusiasm for bringing calculators and computers into the classroom, while others consciously address themes from the calculus reform movement. But most of the articles are simply interesting and timeless explorations of the mathematics encountered in a first course in calculus.

This issue of the journal and its sister (14.03) bring together sixteen contributions from scholars from a variety of perspectives around the topic of Women & Collections.

This catalogue raisonné describes the lamps and statuettes in terracotta of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, to which are added two lamps made of bronze. The collection, small but eclectic, has mostly been assembled in recent years and represents a wide variety of types in these two categories. After an introduction discussing the techniques involved in the production of these objects, the catalogue proper presents 44 lamps, 21 figurines and a single arula with full illustration. This catalogue makes the collection available to a wide readership: students, curators, archaeologists, art historians, collectors and everybody with serious interest in the material culture of the ancient world. This is the second volume of a series intended to make public the different parts of the museum’s collection of Mediterranean antiquities. More than 970 rare books, dating from 1479 to 1830 and covering such categories as gardening, herbals, botanical books and landscape architecture are catalogued in this bibliography.
