The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1985, volume 5, contains messages and fellowship given by Brother Witness Lee on October 22, 1985, through April 16, 1990. At the beginning of October Brother Lee traveled to Taipei, Taiwan, and ministered there until the first week of December. During this period he visited Singapore and Manila, Philippines, for about one week. Brother Lee spent the last few weeks of December in Irving, Texas. The contents of this volume are divided into five sections, as follows: 1. Twelve messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, on October 22 through December 6, 1985. These messages were previously published in Chinese and English under the title Vessels Useful to the Lord. They are included in this volume under the same title. 2. Seven messages given in Singapore on November 12 through 14, 1985. These messages were previously published in Chinese and English in a book entitled Speaking for God. They are included in this volume under the same title. 3. Six messages given in Manila, Philippines, on November 16 through 18, 1985. These messages were translated from Chinese and are included in this volume under the title All Saints Speaking for the Lord--the Normal Way to Meet and Increase. 4. Nine messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, on December 6, 1985, through April 16, 1990. The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1978, volume 2, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee from May 13 through November 26. After returning to Anaheim, California, from Boston, Massachusetts, in the middle of May, Brother Lee remained in Anaheim through the first week in August. During that time he also ministered in San Diego and Fullerton, California. During the second week in August he traveled to San Jose, Sacramento, Berkeley, and San Francisco, California, and returned to Anaheim for a few days. After the third week in August Brother Lee ministered in Boston, Massachusetts; Washington, D.C.; New York City; Atlanta, Georgia; Miami, Florida; Toronto, Canada; Cleveland, Ohio; and Chicago, Illinois, until the end of the third week in September. He then returned to Anaheim and remained there until the end of the first week in November, after which he visited Spokane and Moses Lake, Washington; Vancouver, Canada; Seattle, Washington; and Dallas, Texas. At the beginning of December he returned to Anaheim and, except for a one-day visit to Irvine, California, remained there until the end of the year. The contents of this volume are divided into eight sections, as follows: 1. Two messages given in Costa Mesa and Irvine, California, on May 15 and 18. These messages are included in this volume under the title Living Christ for the Lord's Recovery. 2. Six messages given in Anaheim, California, on May 13 through June 22. These messages were edited into eight chapters and are included in this volume under the title The Experience of Life and Oneness for the Lord's Recovery. 3. Four messages given in Anaheim, California, on June 27 and 28. These messages are included in this volume under the title The Testimony and Way of Life in the Lord's Recovery. 4. Susan Coolidge, pen name of Sarah Chauncey Woolsey (1835–1905), was an American children's author who is best known for her Katy Carr Series. The fictional Carr family of this series was modeled after Woolsey's own family and the protagonist Katy Carr was inspired by Woolsey herself; while the brothers and sisters "Little Carrs" were modeled on her four younger siblings. The Gospel of the Christ is a clear, biblical reply to the question of what a person must believe about Jesus Christ to possess eternal life. The contents of this volume are divided into six sections, as follows: 1. Eight messages given in Baguio, Philippines, on May 7 through 12. These messages are included in this volume under the title Reward and Punishment. 2. Seven messages given in Baguio, Philippines, on May 8 through 15. These messages were previously published in a book entitled The Living and Principles of the Kingdom People and are included in this volume under the same title. 3. Twenty-one messages given in Manila, Philippines, on May 22 through September 11. Chapters 8 through 21 of this section were previously published in a book entitled The Way for a Christian to Mature in Life. During the compilation of the messages for The Collected Works of Witness Lee, five more messages were discovered and were added to the beginning of this section. In addition, two chapters were moved from the previously published book entitled How to Be Useful to the Lord and inserted at the beginning of this section. The resulting twenty-one chapters are included in this volume under the title The Way for a Christian to Mature in Life. 4. Twelve messages given in Manila, Philippines, in June and July.
