Synopsis Coleridge, Revision and Romanticism by : Ve-Yin Tee
The Romantic phenomenon of multiple texts has been shaped by the link between revision and authorial intent. However, what has been overlooked are the profound implications of multiple and contradictory versions of the same text for a materialist approach; using the works of Coleridge as a case study and the afterlife of the French Revolution as the main theme, this monograph lays out the methodology for a more detailed multi-layered analysis. Scrutinising four works of Coleridge (two poems, a newspaper article and a play), where every major variant is read as a separate work with its own distinct socio-historical context, Ve-Yin Tee challenges the notion that any one text is representative of its totality. By re-reading Coleridge in the light of alternative textual materials within that time, he opens a wider scope for meaning and the understanding of Coleridge's oeuvre.

Synopsis Towards a Romantic Conception of Nature by : H. R. Rookmaaker
This study describes in detail the development of Coleridge's attitude to nature as it is reflected in his poetry. It analyses the different stages of Coleridge's search for a meaningful relation to nature from an uncritical adoption of the eighteenth century conventions in his early poetry to a projectionist view in his poems of 1802. It offers challenging new readings of some of Coleridge's major poems like 'The Ancient Mariner' and 'Dejection: an Ode', and tries to rehabilitate some minor ones, like 'The Picture'. Attention is also paid to his relation with Wordsworth. It discusses in detail the philosophical background of Coleridge's views and considers the contribution of German thought to his development. As a whole this study affords a new insight into the genesis of romanticism in England.

Synopsis Coleridge on Dreaming by : Jennifer Ford
This book is the first in-depth investigation of Coleridge's responses to his dreams and to contemporary debates on the nature of dreaming, a subject of perennial interest to poets, philosophers and scientists throughout the Romantic period. Coleridge wrote and read extensively on the subject, but his richly diverse and original ideas have hitherto received little attention, scattered as they are throughout his notebooks, letters and marginalia. Jennifer Ford's emphasis is on analysing the ways in which dreaming processes were construed, by Coleridge in his dream readings, and by his contemporaries in a range of poetic and medical works. This historical exploration of dreams and dreaming allows Ford to explore previously neglected contemporary debates on 'the medical imagination'. By avoiding purely biographical or psychoanalytic approaches, she reveals instead a rich historical context for the ways in which the most mysterious workings of the Romantic imagination were explored and understood.

Synopsis The Complete Poems of Samuel Taylor Coleridge (Illustrated Edition) by : Samuel Taylor Coleridge
The Complete Poems of Samuel Taylor Coleridge (Illustrated Edition) presents the full range of Coleridge's poetic works, showcasing his mastery of the romantic genre. From the dreamlike ballad 'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner' to the introspective musings of 'Kubla Khan,' this collection highlights Coleridge's innovative use of language and powerful imagery. This illustrated edition enhances the reader's experience by pairing the poems with artworks inspired by Coleridge's visionary verses. Samuel Taylor Coleridge, a leading figure in the romantic movement, was known for his lyrical style and exploration of the supernatural and mystical. His personal struggles with addiction and spiritual yearning influenced his poetic themes, adding depth and complexity to his work. Through his poetry, Coleridge sought to capture the beauty of nature and the depths of human experience, making him a revered figure in English literature.
