Synopsis Elegant Circuits by : Julien Clinton Sprott
Chaos is the study of the underlying determinism in the seemingly random phenomena that occur all around us. One of the best experimental demonstrations of chaos occurs in electrical circuits when the parameters are chosen carefully. We will show you how to construct such chaotic circuits for use in your own studies and demonstrations while teaching you the basics of chaos. This book should be of interest to researchers and hobbyists looking for a simple way to produce a chaotic signal. It should also be useful to students and their instructors as an engaging way to learn about chaotic dynamics and electronic circuits. The book assumes only an elementary knowledge of calculus and the ability to understand a schematic diagram and the components that it contains. You will get the most out of this book if you can construct the circuits for yourself. There is no substitute for the thrill and insight of seeing the output of a circuit you built unfold as the trajectory wanders in real time across your oscilloscope screen. A goal of this book is to inspire and delight as well as to teach.

Synopsis Chaos in Electronics by : M.A. van Wyk
Many dynamical systems in physics, chemistry and biology exhibit complex be haviour. The apparently random motion of a fluid is the best known example. How ever also vibrating structures, electronic oscillators, magnetic devices, lasers, chemical oscillators, and population kinetics can behave in a complicated manner. One can find irregular oscillations, which is now known as chaotic behaviour. The research field of nonlinear dynamical systems and especially the study of chaotic systems has been hailed as one of the important breaktroughs in science this century. The sim plest realization of a system with chaotic behaviour is an electronic oscillator. The purpose of this book is to provide a comprehensive introduction to the application of chaos theory to electronic systems. The book provides both the theoretical and experimental foundations of this research field. Each electronic circuit is described in detail together with its mathematical model. Controlling chaos of electronic oscilla tors is also included. End of proofs and examples are indicated by •. Inside examples the end of proofs are indicated with O. We wish to express our gratitude to Catharine Thompson for a critical reading of the manuscript. Any useful suggestions and comments are welcome. Email address of the first author: MVANWYK@TSAMAIL. Synopsis Nonlinear Dynamics in Circuits by : Thomas L. Carroll
This volume describes the use of simple analog circuits to study nonlinear dynamics, chaos and stochastic resonance. The circuit experiments that are described are mostly easy and inexpensive to reproduce, and yet these experiments come from the forefront of nonlinear dynamics research. The individual chapters describe why analog circuits are so useful for studying nonlinear dynamics, and include theoretical as well as experimental results from some of the leading researchers in the field. Most of the articles contain some tutorial sections for the less experienced readers. The audience for this book includes researchers in nonlinear dynamics, chaos and statistical physics as well as electrical engineering, and graduate and advanced undergraduate students in these fields.

Synopsis Chaos and Complexity in Nonlinear Electronic Circuits by : Maciej J. Ogorza?ek
The basic procedures for designing and analysing electronic systems are based largely on the assumptions of linear behavior of the system. Nonlinearities inherent in all real applications very often cause unexpected and even strange behavior. This book presents an electronic engineer's perspective on chaos and complex behavior. It starts from basic mathematical notions which enable understanding of the observed phenomena, and guides the reader through the methodology and tools used in the laboratory and numerical experiments to interpretation and explanation of basic mechanisms. On typical circuit examples, it shows how the theoretical and empirical developments can be used in practice. Attention is drawn to applications of chaotic circuits as noise generators and the possible use of synchronized chaotic systems in information transmission and encryption. Chaos control is considered as a new, emerging area where electronic equipment and chaos theory could turn vital in biomedical and engineering issues.

Synopsis A Practical Guide for Studying Chua's Circuits by : Recai Kilic
Autonomous and nonautonomous Chua''s circuits are of special significance in the study of chaotic system modeling, chaos-based science and engineering applications. Since hardware and software-based design and implementation approaches can be applied to Chua''s circuits, these circuits are also excellent educative models for studying and experimenting nonlinear dynamics and chaos. This book not only presents a collection of the author''s published papers on design, simulation and implementation of Chua''s circuits, it also provides a systematic approach to practising chaotic dynamics.

Synopsis Controlling Chaos and Bifurcations in Engineering Systems by : Guanrong Chen
Over the last two decades, chaos in engineering systems has moved from being simply a curious phenomenon to one with real, practical significance and utility. Engineers, scientists, and mathematicians have similarly advanced from the passive role of analyzing chaos to their present, active role of controlling chaos-control directed not only at suppression, but also at exploiting its enormous potential. We now stand at the threshold of major advances in the control and synchronization of chaos for new applications across the range of engineering disciplines. Controlling Chaos and Bifurcations in Engineering Systems provides a state-of-the-art survey of the control-and anti-control-of chaos in dynamical systems. Internationally known experts in the field join forces in this volume to form this tutorial-style combination of overview and technical report on the latest advances in the theory and applications of chaos control. They detail various approaches to control and show how designers can use chaos to create a wider variety of properties and greater flexibility in the design process. Chaos control promises to have a major impact on novel time- and energy-critical engineering applications. Within this volume, readers will find many challenging problems-yet unsolved-regarding both the fundamental theory and potential applications of chaos control and anti-control. Controlling Chaos and Bifurcations in Engineering Systems will bring readers up-to-date on recent development in the field and help open the door to new advances.
