Synopsis Missile Design and System Engineering by : Eugene L. Fleeman
"In his latest book, Missile Design and System Engineering, Eugene L. Fleeman comprehensively reviews the missile design and system engineering process, drawing on his decades of experience in designing and developing missile systems. Addressing the needs of aerospace engineering students and professors, systems analysts and engineers, and program managers, the book examines missile design, missile technologies, launch platform integration, missile system measures of merit, and the missile system development process. This book has been adapted from Fleeman's earlier title, Tactical Missile Design, Second Edition, to include a greater emphasis on system engineering." --Back cover.

Synopsis Challenges and Issues with the Further Aging of U.S. Air Force Aircraft by : J. R. Gebman
Over the next 20 years, the further aging of already-old aircraft will introduce challenges and issues for aircraft operators. The technical challenges relate to structures, propulsion, and systems. The institutional challenges include limitations on independent verification of fleet status and future condition and on information needed for engineering analyses including risk assessment, and an overall scarcity of resources.

Synopsis Handbook of Systems Engineering and Risk Management in Control Systems, Communication, Space Technology, Missile, Security and Defense Operations by : Anna M. Doro-on
This book provides multifaceted components and full practical perspectives of systems engineering and risk management in security and defense operations with a focus on infrastructure and manpower control systems, missile design, space technology, satellites, intercontinental ballistic missiles, and space security. While there are many existing selections of systems engineering and risk management textbooks, there is no existing work that connects systems engineering and risk management concepts to solidify its usability in the entire security and defense actions. With this book Dr. Anna M. Doro-on rectifies the current imbalance. She provides a comprehensive overview of systems engineering and risk management before moving to deeper practical engineering principles integrated with newly developed concepts and examples based on industry and government methodologies. The chapters also cover related points including design principles for defeating and deactivating improvised explosive devices and land mines and security measures against kinds of threats. The book is designed for systems engineers in practice, political risk professionals, managers, policy makers, engineers in other engineering fields, scientists, decision makers in industry and government and to serve as a reference work in systems engineering and risk management courses with focus on security and defense operations.

Synopsis Guide for Transitioning Army Missile Systems From Development to Production by : ARMY MISSILE COMMAND REDSTONE ARSENAL AL SYSTEMS ENGINEERING DIRECTORATE.
One of the most important steps in the life cycle of a new missile system is the transition from development into production. It encompasses completion of engineering development; a successful outcome of the milestone review process for production entry; initiation of the activities needed for production start-up; and routine manufacturing of the missile system. Because of the large number of diverse events that must be successfully orchestrated to achieve the transition, it is a complex and difficult challenge. This guide has been prepared to assist Project Managers for major and non-major systems in planning for and executing the transition for new missile systems.

Synopsis Pre-Milestone A and Early-Phase Systems Engineering by : National Research Council
The ability of U.S. military forces to field new weapons systems quickly and to contain their cost growth has declined significantly over the past few decades. There are many causes including increased complexity, funding instability, bureaucracy, and more diverse user demands, but a view that is gaining more acceptance is that better systems engineering (SE) could help shorten development time. To investigate this assertion in more detail, the US Air Force asked the NRC to examine the role that SE can play during the acquisition life cycle to address root causes of program failure especially during pre-milestone A and early program phases. This book presents an assessment of the relationship between SE and program outcome; an examination of the SE workforce; and an analysis of SE functions and guidelines. The latter includes a definition of the minimum set of SE processes that need to be accounted for during project development.
