Learning Mathematics - Class 8 has been written by Prof. M.L. Aggarwal in accordance with the latest syllabus of the NCERT and Guidelines issued by the CBSE on Comprehensive and Continuous Evaluation (CCE). The subject matter has been explained in a simple language and includes many examples from real life situations. Questions in the form of Fill in the Blanks, True/False statements and Multiple Choice Questions have been given under the heading ‘Mental Maths’. Some Value Based Questions have also been included to impart values among students. In addition to normal questions, some Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions have been given to enhance the analytical thinking of the students. (See the development of the concept of addition and subtraction of fractions in section 5.3 for examples) Intuition and understanding are some of the keys to creative thinking, we belive that the material presented in this text will help students realize that mathematics is a creative subject.
