Synopsis An Introduction to Ray Tracing by : Andrew S. Glassner
The creation of ever more realistic 3-D images is central to the development of computer graphics. The ray tracing technique has become one of the most popular and powerful means by which photo-realistic images can now be created. The simplicity, elegance and ease of implementation makes ray tracing an essential part of understanding and exploiting state-of-the-art computer graphics. An Introduction to Ray Tracing develops from fundamental principles to advanced applications, providing "how-to" procedures as well as a detailed understanding of the scientific foundations of ray tracing. It is also richly illustrated with four-color and black-and-white plates. This is a book which will be welcomed by all concerned with modern computer graphics, image processing, and computer-aided design. - Provides practical "how-to" information - Contains high quality color plates of images created using ray tracing techniques - Progresses from a basic understanding to the advanced science and application of ray tracing

Synopsis Hexapod External Fixator Systems by : Marco Massobrio
This book provides a thorough description of hexapod external fixators, from the theoretical basis to their practical application. Indications and practical use in current Orthopaedic practice are addressed in detail, offering the reader essential insights into the strengths and limitations of these devices. The main aspects covered, include primary (congenital) and secondary (acquired) deformities of the limbs: the etiology, pathomechanics, clinics, technical “tips and tricks” and suggested frame assemblies are presented. Each chapter addresses a specific Orthopaedic problem and includes representative clinical cases commented on by the authors. Illustrations and X-ray images support the discussion of the various themes treated in the textbook. Special attention is also given to deformity morphology and the consequent geometry of correction, as well as economical aspects and the biological risks of radiation exposure. A review of current nomenclature in external fixation is also provided as a quick-reference resource. Offering clear and straightforward descriptions of these devices and their current use in practice, prepared by leading international experts, this book will benefit expert surgeons and residents alike.

Synopsis Ingle's Endodontics by : Ilan Rotstein, DDS
Ingle’s Endodontics, 7th edition, is the most recent revision of the text that has been known as the “Bible of Endodontics” for half a century. The new edition, published in two volumes, continues the tradition of including the expertise of international leaders in the field. Eighty-six authors contributed cutting-edge knowledge and updates on topics that have formed the core of this book for years. New chapters reflect the ways in which the field of endodontics has evolved over the 50 years since the pioneer John I. Ingle authored Endodontics. Ingle’s Endodontics will continue to be the standard against which all other endodontic texts will be measured. The 40 chapters are arranged in two volumes under three sections: The Science of Endodontics; The Practice of Endodontics: Diagnosis, Clinical Decision Making, Management, Prognosis; and Interdisciplinary Endodontics. With contributions from the world’s experts in all phases of the specialty, Ingle’s Endodontics, 7th edition promises to be an indispensable dentistry textbook, an essential part of every endodontist’s library.

Synopsis Flowing Matter by : Federico Toschi
This open access book, published in the Soft and Biological Matter series, presents an introduction to selected research topics in the broad field of flowing matter, including the dynamics of fluids with a complex internal structure -from nematic fluids to soft glasses- as well as active matter and turbulent phenomena. Flowing matter is a subject at the crossroads between physics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, biology and earth sciences, and relies on a multidisciplinary approach to describe the emergence of the macroscopic behaviours in a system from the coordinated dynamics of its microscopic constituents. Depending on the microscopic interactions, an assembly of molecules or of mesoscopic particles can flow like a simple Newtonian fluid, deform elastically like a solid or behave in a complex manner. When the internal constituents are active, as for biological entities, one generally observes complex large-scale collective motions. Phenomenology is further complicated by the invariable tendency of fluids to display chaos at the large scales or when stirred strongly enough. This volume presents several research topics that address these phenomena encompassing the traditional micro-, meso-, and macro-scales descriptions, and contributes to our understanding of the fundamentals of flowing matter. This book is the legacy of the COST Action MP1305 “Flowing Matter”.
