Synopsis Big Rockets, Deep Pockets by : Scott Hawthorne

Big Rockets, Deep Pockets is a fanciful roman 'a clef ramble through the space age, highlighting some of the characters and adventures that took place not only in space but at suppliers facilities across the nation. From the Oklahoma redneck welder Grady Green, whose competitors believe to be a crafty and devious manipulator but must respect, if not his methods, the results they achieve as president and CEO of Tulsa Fabricators, to Cray Reynolds, young rodeo cowboy and his partner Fess, whom Grady subsidizes illicitly but unknown to them, by misapropriation of Government funds. Such activities worry Milli Angei, Grady's beautiful Girl Friday whose job it is to manage the technical and legal details that Grady chooses to ignore. Milli's leisure time activity is membership in and exclusive nudist resort. And Ben Okara, decorated Nisei war veteran, now supervisor of on-site inspection for Space Air Corporation. Avoiding conflict of interest, the friendship between Grady and Ben is an anomaly to say the least. We also meet Hans Frederick, President of Tech Nitro Technology (TNT), Ben's closest and most trusted friend. Hans has a capricious side, he is also owner of a bar employing sixty scantily clad girls.

Synopsis Nasa Secrets the Story of the Space Shuttle Vehicles— Launching Satellites by : Albert Monroe

This book, NASA Secrets is the story about the days of NASA when the six orbiters, or Space Shuttles came into existence. Prior to the Shuttles, the only way to launch satellites were off, of unmanned rockets. We needed a better system. In the late seventy’s, the Shuttle program was created, built, and used to put bigger, and more powerful satellites into orbit. As a trainer my team and I trained many of the Air Force Engineers, and many various contractors, technicians, even those Astronauts, to launch satellites from the shuttle, into various type orbits. I take you through, what I called the Cradle to Grave concept, the life of the Space Shuttle from the manufacturer plant to the testing, and down to Kennedy Space Center, preparation for launch, and the actual launch from one of the two pads. The program lasted approximately thirty years, and many accomplishments were made during that span. Some even changed our lives. Unfortunately, due to overruns, costs, and other setbacks the program was cancelled. I cover the two main accidents, the Challenger, and the Columbia crashes. Then, I explain our satellite communication system, called TDRS, the International Space Station, Hubble Space Telescope, and the new James Webb Telescope. It is a remarkably interesting and informative read, where everyone, all ages can enjoy it.

Synopsis Rocket In My Pocket by : Suki Selborne

CRESTA: My day was going pretty well until I was abducted by aliens. Who am I kidding? Things weren't really going so great. My science career was failing, the Celestial Mates cherub was on my case, and I hadn't had a date in years. But being taken to a hostile planet to be impregnated with scorpion-bug larvae? That was a whole new level of suck-itude. Luckily, things are looking up. I just got rescued by some hot alien dude in a military uniform. And he's very easy on the eyes, if you know what I mean. Now we're shooting through the stars, trying to find our way back to civilization. If everyone would stop trying to kill us, things would be awesome. HARKUS: This human female is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. She is a goddess. If I had to slay every alien in the galaxy to free her, I would. I am willing to destroy entire planets to keep my beloved safe. But not all fights are fair. If we make it out of this adventure alive, one thing is certain. We belong together. And nobody in this universe will tear us apart. ROCKET IN MY POCKET is the second YOLCADIAN WARRIORS romance novel, set in the Celestial Mates shared world. Synopsis The Pan-Industrial Revolution by : Richard D'Aveni

The acclaimed author of Strategic Capitalism presents a provocative new vision of global industry in the age of 3-D printing: “essential business reading” (Kirkus, starred review). With books like Hypercompetition and Strategic Capitalism, Richard D’Aveni has established himself as a business strategist of uncanny prescience. In The Pan-Industrial Revolution, he demonstrates how the advent of industrial‑scale 3‑D printing is already happening under the radar, and that it will have a far‑reaching impact that most corporate and governmental leaders have yet to anticipate or understand. 3-D printing, now called additive manufacturing, has moved far beyond a desktop technology used by hobbyists to churn out trinkets and toys. In this eye-opening account, D’Aveni reveals how recent breakthroughs have been secretly adapted by Fortune 500 companies to revolutionize the manufacture jet engines, airplanes, automobiles, and so much more. D’Aveni explains how this technology will transform the landscape of manufacturing, and the dramatic effect this change will have on the world economy. A handful of massively powerful corporations—what D’Aveni calls pan‑industrials—will become as important as any tech giant in re-structuring the global order.

Synopsis Big Boss Man by : Will Romano

Alcoholic. Epileptic. Technically challenged. Described as all this and worse, Jimmy Reed nevertheless overcame these roadblocks to become perhaps the most successful R&B/pop crossover artist of the '50s. In "Big Boss Man," musicians, family members, and those whose lives Reed touched offer revealing and heart-wrenching insights into this now-revered bluesman. Although Reed's alcoholism was no secret, its effect on his musicianship is less understood -- this and more is explored in this comprehensive biography of a classic bluesman.

Harvard professor Wilson Chaney's position in life is hanging by a thread; his marriage, his reputation, not to mention his tenure at Harvard are in the hands of a blackmailer, someone threatening to sell Chaney's secrets at very high prices. His enviable life could disappear into thin air should the blackmailer's evidence-proof of his affair with a young student-become public knowledge. So he hires Boston private investigator Carlotta Carlyle to track down the blackmailer and put a stop to the scheme. Can she do it? Of course, but should she? The professor doesn't inspire much loyalty-after all, he did commit adultery with one of his own students-but Carlotta agrees. Digging into the case, nosing around Harvard and the possible suspects from the rest of Dr. Chaney's life, she uncovers a suspicious death as part of the backstory to Dr. Chaney's situation. Synopsis Keep Watching the Skies! by : W. Patrick McCray

When the Soviets launched Sputnik in 1957, thousands of ordinary people across the globe seized the opportunity to participate in the start of the Space Age. Known as the "Moonwatchers," these largely forgotten citizen-scientists helped professional astronomers by providing critical and otherwise unavailable information about the first satellites. In Keep Watching the Skies!, Patrick McCray tells the story of this network of pioneers who, fueled by civic pride and exhilarated by space exploration, took part in the twentieth century's biggest scientific endeavor. Around the world, thousands of teenagers, homemakers, teachers, amateur astronomers, and other citizens joined Moonwatch teams. Despite their diverse backgrounds and nationalities, they shared a remarkable faith in the transformative power of science--a faith inspired by the Cold War culture in which they lived. Against the backdrop of the space race and technological advancement, ordinary people developed an unprecedented desire to contribute to scientific knowledge and to investigate their place in the cosmos. Using homemade telescopes and other gadgets, Moonwatchers witnessed firsthand the astonishing beginning of the Space Age. In the process, these amateur scientists organized themselves into a worldwide network of satellite spotters that still exists today. Drawing on previously unexamined letters, photos, scrapbooks, and interviews, Keep Watching the Skies! recreates a pivotal event from a perspective never before examined--that of ordinary people who leaped at a chance to take part in the excitement of space exploration.
