Synopsis Back Off! by : Martha Langelan
Back Off is filled with real-life success stories from women who have stopped harassers cold: -- Sharon, who succeeded in stopping a whole crew of habitual harassers in a city park... -- Stephanie, a ten-year-old who confronted and escaped a child molester... -- Catharine and Molly, who stood up to their landlord and stopped him from harassing the tenants... and dozens more. From an eight-year-old who successfully challenged two young harassers on the playground to an organized group of fifty women who confronted a dockworker in response to an attempted rape on the job, here's what they did, how they did it -- and how you can do it, too. Back Off is the first book to focus on the direct-action tactics that work and the first to deal with harassment everywhere it takes place, in both blue-collar and white-collar jobs, at school, on the street, on the bus or subway, in the park, even in church. Back Off examines the dynamics of sex and power in sexual harassment, the motives behind harassers' actions, and why traditional responses such as appeasement or aggression don't work, and describes the successful resistance strategies that you really can use -- including nonviolent personal confrontation techniques, group confrontations, administrative remedies, and formal lawsuits.

Synopsis Bully, Bully, Back Off Me by : Lora Bender
I just hope that my book will inspire someone and to give them convenient to overcome any obstacle. There is so much bullying in our world today, not taking the time to get to know the person, their wisdom, their intelligence, and their harmony, before they're so quickly judged by their appearance. We all came face-to-face with hindrances or barriers in our life. It takes time to get the courage to jump over that hurdle to develop the strength to stand tall. (T. D. Jakes is my inspiration: Allow your enemy be your step stool.) Native words flow like a river. It has no end. Don't allow yourself to sink in the flow of water surrounded by words that has no meaning. Your fight is not against the words that hold your head underwater. Your fight is the fight of survival to rise above the water. Put your hand on your heart. Take a look in the mirror. Your heart beat for you. Love yourself!

Synopsis Taking the Back off the Watch by : Thomas Gold
Thomas Gold (1920-2004) had a curious mind that liked to solve problems. He was one of the most remarkable astrophysicists in the second half of the twentieth century, and he attracted controversy throughout his career. Based on a full-length autobiography left behind by Thomas Gold, this book was edited by the astrophysicist and historian of science, Simon Mitton (University of Cambridge). The book is a retrospective on Gold’s remarkable life. He fled from Vienna in 1933, eventually settling in England and completing an engineering degree at Trinity College in Cambridge. During the war, he worked on naval radar research alongside Fred Hoyle and Hermann Bondi – which, in an unlikely chain of events, eventually led to his working with them on steady-state cosmology. In 1968, shortly after their discovery, he provided the explanation of pulsars as rotating neutron stars. In his final position at Cornell, he and his colleagues persuaded the US Defense Department to fund the conversion of the giant radio telescope at Arecibo in Puerto Rico into a superb instrument for radio astronomy. Gold’s interests covered physiology, astronomy, cosmology, geophysics, and engineering. Written in an intriguing style and with an equally intriguing foreword by Freeman Dyson, this book constitutes an important historical document, made accessible to all those interested in the history of science.
