Synopsis Baby It's HOT Outside by : Paul Murdock

Lieutenant Commander Reef Klima commands a SEAL team. The Joint Special Operations Command orders it to rescue a US Marine, the Duke of Edinburgh, and others from an al-Qaeda cell that has taken them to a lakeside house in Syria. Senior Chief Emma Bartram, the team sniper, and Major Magnus McKellar, Special Boat Service, are involved in the rescue. During it, the leader of the cell hits Klima on the head. The blow causes a traumatic brain injury, and Klima becomes an 'acquired savant;' he develops prodigious mathematical and other abilities. The Navy places him on medical-hold, assigns him to the Joint Interagency Task Force in Key West. He also becomes an advisor to the Army Special Forces Underwater Operations School. While recovering from TBI and working as a JIATF weather forecaster, Klima uses his Ph.D. in applied mathematics to help NOAA with climate models. He is also learning to cope with an explosive temper. The Navy promotes Bartram to ensign and assigns her to JIATF. The man who caused Klima's TBI leads a cell to Key West and they attack SFUWO. Klima and Green Berets fight them and take one prisoner. The prisoner claims the cell bought a nuclear weapon in Cuba that it's in the keys: left in Cuba during the Missile Crisis. JIAF helps the Department of Energy search for the nuke. Bartram confronts a suicide bomber driving a boat intending to kill spectators watching a superpower boat race. The leader of the cell flees Key West in a stolen Cessna and Reef and other operators follow him to Cuba.

Synopsis ART + CLIMATE = CHANGE by : Guy Abrahams

In a period of profound environmental and social upheaval, climate change has become one of our greatest challenges. Yet for many of us, fear, confusion and frustration mean we are reluctant to consider, let alone act on this pressing issue. Rational engagement with science is vital to forming solutions to this challenge. But a cultural shift is also needed. Artists have the capacity to develop a narrative that recognises the reality of our present and inspires a vibrant, positive vision of our future. Presenting the work of Australian and international artists across twenty-nine exhibitions and events, ART+CLIMATE=CHANGE explores the power of art to create the empathy, emotional engagement and cultural understanding needed to motivate meaningful change.

Synopsis A Transition to Sustainable Housing by : Trivess Moore

This open access book explores the environmental, social, and financial challenges of housing provision, and the urgent need for a sustainable housing transition. The authors explore how market failures have impacted the scaling up of sustainable housing and the various policy attempts to address this. Going beyond an environmental focus, the book explores a range of housing-related challenges including social justice and equity issues. Sustainability transitions theory is presented as a framework to help facilitate a sustainable housing transition and a range of contemporary case studies are explored on issues including high performing housing, small housing, shared housing, neighbourhood-scale housing, circular housing, and innovative financing for housing. It is an important new resource that challenges policy makers, planners, housing construction industry stakeholders, and researchers to rethink what housing is, how we design and construct it, and how we can better integrate impacts on households to wider policy development.

Synopsis Updike and the Patriarchal Dilemma by : Mary O'Connell

A disturbing element exists, O'Connell determines, in both the texts of the Rabbit novels and in the critical community that examines them. In the novels, O'Connell finds substantial evidence to demonstrate patterns of psychological and physical abuse toward women, citing as the culminating example the mounting toll of literally or metaphorically dead women in the texts.
