Synopsis Applied Interdisciplinary Theory in Health Informatics by : P. Scott
The American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) defines the term biomedical informatics (BMI) as: The interdisciplinary field that studies and pursues the effective uses of biomedical data, information, and knowledge for scientific inquiry, problem solving and decision making, motivated by efforts to improve human health. This book: Applied Interdisciplinary Theory in Health Informatics: A Knowledge Base for Practitioners, explores the theories that have been applied in health informatics and the differences they have made. The editors, all proponents of evidence-based health informatics, came together within the European Federation of Medical Informatics (EFMI) Working Group on Health IT Evaluation and the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) Working Group on Technology Assessment and Quality Development. The purpose of the book, which has a foreword by Charles Friedman, is to move forward the agenda of evidence-based health informatics by emphasizing theory-informed work aimed at enriching the understanding of this uniquely complex field. The book takes the AMIA definition as particularly helpful in its articulation of the three foundational domains of health informatics: health science, information science, and social science and their various overlaps, and this model has been used to structure the content of the book around the major subject areas. The book discusses some of the most important and commonly used theories relevant to health informatics, and constitutes a first iteration of a consolidated knowledge base that will advance the science of the field.

Synopsis Insight into Theoretical and Applied Informatics by : Andrzej Yatsko
The book is addressed to young people interested in computer technologies and computer science. The objective of this book is to provide the reader with all the necessary elements to get him or her started in the modern field of informatics and to allow him or her to become aware of the relationship between key areas of computer science. The book is addressed not only to future software developers, but also to all who are interested in computing in a widely understood sense. The authors also expect that some computer professionals will want to review this book to lift themselves above the daily grind and to embrace the excellence of the whole field of computer science. Unlike existing books, this one bypasses issues concerning the construction of computers and focuses only on information processing. Recognizing the importance of the human factor in information processing, the authors intend to present the theoretical foundations of computer science, software development rules, and some business aspects of informatics in non-technocratic, humanistic terms.

Synopsis Nursing and Informatics for the 21st Century - Embracing a Digital World, Book 1 by : Connie White Delaney
In just the past decade, the emergence of digital health has finally become palpable. Enhanced by the pandemic, social justice events, and planetary health urgency, Realizing Digital Health – Bold Challenges and Opportunities for Nursing explores that evolution with a focus on capturing the current state of digital health. Anchored in an introduction to digital health, new technologies, opportunities, and challenges are described. Consideration of the opportunities and challenges of digital health calls for specific attention to ethical considerations. This book includes a current state synopsis of healthcare in the USA, with the inclusion of specific implications for nursing leaders and executives. Engagement of the people (patients, families, communities) working in partnership to enhance health is described. Information management and the necessary definition and access to data are discussed with a particular explication of the function of information management and operational decision-making. The challenges and learnings related to informatics drawn from the experiences of leaders in large health systems shed insight into the current state of informatics-enabled digital health and healthcare. The global example of the integration of technology, nursing, and health systems expands our knowledge of the current state as well as explores possibilities. This book concludes with a commitment to and description of the current state of teamwork and the integral role/functions within informatics, nursing, and healthcare. Synopsis Computational Science/Intelligence and Applied Informatics by : Roger Lee
This book gathers the outcomes of the 6th ACIS International Conference on Computational Science/Intelligence & Applied Informatics (CSII 2019), which was held on May 29–31, 2019 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The aim of the conference was to bring together researchers and scientists, businesspeople and entrepreneurs, teachers, engineers, computer users, and students to discuss the various fields of computer science and to share their experiences and exchange new ideas and information in a meaningful way. Further, they presented research results on all aspects (theory, applications and tools) of computer and information science, and discussed the practical challenges encountered in their work and the solutions they adopted to overcome them. The book highlights the best papers from those accepted for presentation at the conference. They were chosen based on review scores submitted by members of the program committee and underwent further rigorous rounds of review. From this second round, 15 of the conference’s most promising papers were selected for this Springer (SCI) book and not the conference proceedings. We eagerly await the important contributions that we know these authors will make to the field of computer and information science.
