Synopsis Ancestors and Descendants of Francis Epes I of Virginia by : John Frederick Dorman
Alan Epes (d.1471) was of the parish of Brenzett in Kent, England and is considered to be the founder of the Epes family. One of his many descendants was Francis Epes (1597-1674) who was born in Ashford, Kent. He traveled to Virginia in the early 1600s and was later elected to the Assembly held at James City in 1625. In the 1630s he served in the House of Burgesses and was a land owner of considerable worth. He and his wife, Marie, were the parents of at least three children. Descendants live in Virginia, North Carolina and throughout the United States.
