Synopsis Anaesthesia Databook by : Rosemary Mason
This is the third edition of a comprehensive book covering all aspects of perioperative and peripartum anaesthesia. Previous editions have been very well received (see reviews of the first two editions below) and this book builds on their success to be an essential purchase for all trainee and practising anaesthetists, as well as providing a valuable resource for other hospital and particularly theatre-based personnel such as surgeons, obstetricians, operating department practitioners, theatre nurses, midwives etc. The sections on medical disorders and anaesthestic problems, and on emergency conditions arising during anaesthesia or the immediate postoperative period have been expanded to include over 30 new entries and rare and unusual syndromes have been incorporated into these two main sections for ease of quick reference. The book also features a valuable list of abbreviations and a fully updated appendix containing useful addresses, telephone numbers and website details.

This book is intended to bring together data and clinical guidelines for those involved in the practice of anaesthesia, whether they be specialists or not. It is designed to be a true handbook that will accompany its owner into the operating theatre, where it will serve as a practical reference guide, not as a textbook. We welcome comment, criticism, and suggestions for improvement of the contents; correspondence may be addressed to the authors at P. O. Box 63, Tygerberg 7505, Republic of South Africa. We wish to acknowledge help received from our colleagues over the years of publication: Dr. T.J.V.Voss, Prof. G.G.Harrison, Dr. C. M. Lewis, Dr. W. B. Murray, Prof. A. R. Coetzee, and Dr. W. L. van der Merwe. Acknowledgement is also made to "Anaesthesia Guidelines", long since out of print, on which the first edition of this handbook was based in 1978. Synopsis Textbook of Obstetric Anaesthesia by : Rachel E. Collis
The modern obstetric anaesthetist must not only provide safe and effective pain-relief in labour and anaesthesia for Caesarean section, but also understand the wider role of the anaesthetist in the management of the pregnant woman. Textbook of Obstetric Anaesthesia provides information on the breadth of obstetric anaesthesia and the role of the obstetric anaesthetist in the delivery suite. It provides useful, practical, evidence-based information on all aspects of labour ward management. Coverage of all subject areas is comprehensive, and a multidisciplinary group of expert contributors examine the key issues in normal labour and routine analgesia, routine fetal monitoring and basic interpretation of the CTG. Later chapters go on to cover in detail what happens, and how to manage patients, in difficult situations that extend beyond the routine.

Synopsis Fundamentals of Anaesthesia by : Ted Lin
Fundamentals of Anaesthesia is the gold standard text for the Primary FRCA, encapsulating the basic principles of modern anaesthesia in one easily accessible volume. Written and edited by experts with extensive FRCA examination experience, this text deliberately blends the expertise of invited authors in an unrivalled consistency of style more akin to that of a single author text. All of the subject matter required to pass the exam is condensed into an easy-to-read format. This fully updated fourth edition includes new guidelines, an improved chapter structure, and a new section on clinical ultrasound. The generous use of summary boxes, bullet points, tables and diagrams creates a text that is clear, concise and easy to navigate. Each section covers one of the four components of the SOE. This is a unique revision aid for the Primary FRCA and an essential companion for all exam candidates.
