Like other artists of his generation, for Aloïs Godinat the idea was to start over again without disowning, use without quoting, propose without constraining, question without using rhetoric. Re-pasted posters, reconstructed obsolete objects, and generic elements (rods, sticks, and suchlike) indicating some potential use, make up the artist's repertoire of forms and gestures. Forms and gestures, for, as with the American, Trisha Donnelly or the American-Cuban duo, Allora & Calzadilla, underlying Godinat's art there is a two-fold paradigm of music and performance. This duality is present both in the works and in the concepts used (amplification, repetition, partition, register, play, etc.). In that sense, Aloïs Godinat has something of a pacified heritage at his disposal; as one who says he is interested in the 'design' of paintings by Christopher Wool and Ed Ruscha, he can address the question of appropriation from the standpoint of music (as did Francis Baudevin in his own way), and Conceptual art under the performative aegis of Fluxus. Francis Baudevin (born 1964) makes paintings from graphics designed for various products, primarily pharmaceuticals and album covers. He removes the type, leaving only the graphics, and enlarges the results onto canvases and walls, thereby retrieving geometric abstraction from its influence on commercial design.

For the New Century Issue of the journal "Theroretical Chemistry Accounts" the advisory editors identified papers from the first century of theoretical chemistry and discussed their importance for the twentieth century with an eye towards the twenty-first century. Sixty-six such perspectives are published in the New Century Issue. The mountain community of Amden am Walensee (Switzerland) was a place of social and artistic experiments as early as the beginning of the 20th century. In the last 15 years, many artists have been invited to exhibit in the Amden Atelier, a small farm, or to use the facilities for the production of a work of art. This publication includes all exhibitions and installations staged since 1999 and describes and discusses the individual art projects. The work is complemented by essays on the landscape, the place and its change of use to an exhibition space, on the curating concept and its development in recent years.
