Synopsis The Odette C. Bell Fantasy Bundle by : Odette C. Bell
Are you ready for four adventure-packed fantasies from Odette C. Bell? Consisting of the complete Gladys the Guard, Agent of Light, Superheroes Don’t Wear Heels, and The Witch and the Commander, this bundle is over 300,000 words of action, adventure, and romance, so dive in today and soar free with Odette C. Bell adventures. Gladys the Guard Gladys is a mild-mannered girl, living in a mild-mannered town. Working in a local haberdashery store, she stacks pastel-colored yarns and sticks labels on jam jars. She’s single, carless, and lives with her mad grandma. The only interesting thing about her is also the saddest: Gladys is unusually good at arcade games. But when strange, yowling, terribly violent things happen in town, Gladys soon finds out she might be the only haberdashery store attendant who can stop them, and that, luckily for everyone else, her skills with plastic guns extend to the real variety. … Agent of Light Agent Mira works for a shadowy agency called (imaginatively) the Agency. She forms part of the line of defense between good and bad - between Heaven itself and the fiery depths of Hell. When she’s plunged into fights beyond her skills, they push her straight into the arms of the Agency’s finest officer, Michael. From the sudden appearance of a childlike angel, to the unwanted attention of the police, Mira won’t catch a break. Good – Hell doesn’t want her to. It has a plan, and Mira will fulfil it or be bled dry of every drop of her light and life. … Superheroes Don’t Wear Heels Annie hates superheroes, a fact she will freely and loudly admit to anyone who will listen. They are a drain on public resources and give people the mistaken belief that anyone can look good in stretch tights. If only the city spent less on keeping buffoons in capes and more on effective disaster planning, the world would be a better place. Superheroes aren't the solution; they're the problem. Annie’s so sure superheroes aren't worth the colored plastic they've been molded from, that it takes a plot of the rather epic supervillain kind to prove her wrong. It's a hard lesson to learn, and one that involves far more kabooms, pows, capes, and dashing tights-wearing men than your average reality check. But at the end of the day, a lesson’s a lesson, even if it carries a shrink ray. … The Witch and the Commander Abby is a witch; she has a broom and a cat named Charlie. But around these parts witches aren’t popular. So when she finds herself at the mercy of an ancient spell with no one to rely on but a distant man, she must count on more than her magic to survive. Pembrake can’t stand her at first. But her endearing charm and innocence soon grow on him. Dangerous, because it will drive him to protect her, and that may prove impossible.

Synopsis Gladys the Guard Episode Two by : Odette C. Bell
Gladys has too much trouble to tackle. And only some of it comes from her enemies as they leak further into town in their ancient quest to rule all. She has no clue where she stands with Max, but if she can’t save Huddleston, she’ll sit beside him in the grave. And if she can’t find her true powers and rise to the occasion, the whole world will fall soon after. That’s a tad too much pressure – but Gladys will just thumb her glasses up her nose, reach for another jam toast, and find the first thing to kick. .... In the year 2023: Caleb Porter, 22, lives in a modest apartment building and down on his luck while searching for his calling in life. He was forced to move to the cramped living space after a shady politician spearheaded a budget proposal to increase taxes in the city dramatically. Hoping to escape his quandary, Caleb dreamed of enlisting in the US Military. However, his lack of physical development prevented his ambition from becoming a reality. Until one September day, he was offered a role with a new secret agency comprised of undercover superhuman super-agents posing as taxi drivers, stealthily correcting corruption, tyranny, and terrorism worldwide. Soon, Caleb is swept in a whirlwind of events that lead to a bizarre chain of events that lead to a significant geopolitical struggle and a cataclysmic world event threatening humanity's survival. ------ Using highly-advanced technology, the EJFS can build their recruits into superhuman brutes with various capabilities ranging from powerful wind breath to other forms of weather manipulation and control. The EJFS network possesses a massive presence worldwide, monitoring all levels of the chain of power in each region and locality within its scope across the globe. ------ Caleb, a.k.a. Abhu Dhuval Sandeep (Caleb's alternate persona), and his trainer, Agent Singh Puneet Sherpa, embark on an epic chase, attempting to avert an impending global calamity from occurring. Together, they soon form a long-lasting friendship after a perilous situation takes shape, separating Singh and the star agent from protecting his new best friend. Khali, the chief commander of the EJFS, operates and manages the super-agency in which he formed. The mission to prevent Vritra's rebirth faces complications as two moles within the agency, working for the rival Final Wave terrorist organization, plan their betrayal of the EJFS to rejoin Final Wave in its bid to conquer the world with Vritra seizing control of Planet Earth. Will the EJFS succeed in stopping the apocalypse, or will their efforts come up short? ------ The journey spans the globe from Atlanta, Georgia to Dubai, UAE, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Berlin, Germany, and Siberia, Russia.

Synopsis Shadows of Light by : Aaron Torrence
The city of Luminous has always been under the protection of three Guardians: the Prophet, the Warrior, and the Ruler. These Guardians are chosen by an all-powerful being called the Light and are each connected to a different celestial body, granting them special powers to help in their assigned task. However, when the last Ruler died, the Light mysteriously did not choose a successor; and since the Ruler was connected to the sun, the sun itself stopped shining as well, plunging Luminous into a Long Night that has lasted nine years. During this time, a scientist named Saul Leos took the throne by force and is now leading a campaign to abandon the Light. However, a small group who oppose Saul have formed a rebel organization called Shadows of Light, or S.o.L., to fight against Saul's forces using espionage and guerilla tactics. One of S.o.L.'s novice agents is a young man named Justin Libra who has a strong desire to fight Saul and protect people, and he is about to learn that the Light has bigger plans for him than he could imagine

Synopsis Return to Twin Peaks by : Jeffrey Andrew Weinstock
Return to Twin Peaks offers new critical considerations and approaches to the Twin Peaks series, as well as reflections on its significance and legacy. With texts that analyze the ways in which readers and viewers endow texts with meaning in light of historically situated and culturally shared emphases and interpretive strategies, this volume showcases the ways in which new theoretical paradigms can reinvigorate and enrich understanding of what Twin Peaks was and what it has become since it went off the air in 1991.

Synopsis Recent Advances in Natural Language Processing by : Ruslan Mitkov
This volume is based on contributions from the First International Conference on “Recent Advances in Natural Language Processing” (RANLP’95) held in Tzigov Chark, Bulgaria, 14-16 September 1995. This conference was one of the most important and competitively reviewed conferences in Natural Language Processing (NLP) for 1995 with submissions from more than 30 countries. Of the 48 papers presented at RANLP’95, the best (revised) papers have been selected for this book, in the hope that they reflect the most significant and promising trends (and latest successful results) in NLP. The book is organised thematically and the contributions are grouped according to the traditional topics found in NLP: morphology, syntax, grammars, parsing, semantics, discourse, grammars, generation, machine translation, corpus processing and multimedia. To help the reader find his/her way, the authors have prepared an extensive index which contains major terms used in NLP; an index of authors which lists the names of the authors and the page numbers of their paper(s); a list of figures; and a list of tables. This book will be of interest to researchers, lecturers and graduate students interested in Natural Language Processing and more specifically to those who work in Computational Linguistics, Corpus Linguistics and Machine Translation.

Synopsis Individual Susceptibility to Genotoxic Agents in the Human Population by : Frederick J. De Serres
As a result of the industrial revolution, man's technological achievements have been truly great, increasing the quality of life to almost unimagined proportions; but all this progress has not been accomplished without equally un imagined health risks. Sufficiently diagnostic short-term assay procedures have been developed in recent years for us to determine that there are mutagenic agents among thou sands of chemicals to which the human population is exposed today. These chemicals were not significantly present prior to the indus trial revolution. As of today, there are no procedures available which have been adequately demonstrated to assess individual sus ceptibility to genotoxic exposures, and as a result we have had to rely on extrapolating toxicological data from animal model systems. The question is can we afford to allow such an increased environ mental selection pressure via mutagenic exposures to occur without expecting adverse long-term effects on our health. It is apparent from this line of reasoning that what is lacking and immediately needed are test procedures that can be applied to humans to assess genotoxic exposure as well as individual susceptibility to it. There have already been two conferences which have focused at tention on this research area. "Guidelines for studies of human populations exposed to mutagenic and reproductive hazards" (A. D. Bloom, ed., March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation, White Plains, New York, 1981) and "Indicators of genotoxic exposure in humans" (Banbury Report 13, B. A. Bridges, B. E. Butterworth, and I. B.
