Synopsis Recent Advances in Noncommutative Algebra and Geometry by : K. A. Brown

This volume contains the proceedings of the conference Recent Advances and New Directions in the Interplay of Noncommutative Algebra and Geometry, held from June 20–24, 2022, at the University of Washington, Seattle, in honor of S. Paul Smith's 65th birthday. The articles reflect the wide interests of Smith and provide researchers and graduate students with an indispensable overview of topics of current interest. Specific fields covered include: noncommutative algebraic geometry, representation theory, Hopf algebras and quantum groups, the elliptic algebras of Feigin and Odesskii, Calabi-Yau algebras, Artin-Schelter regular algebras, deformation theory, and Lie theory. In addition to original research contributions the volume includes an introductory essay reviewing Smith's research contributions in these fields, and several survey articles.

Synopsis Advances in Noncommutative Geometry by : Ali Chamseddine

This authoritative volume in honor of Alain Connes, the foremost architect of Noncommutative Geometry, presents the state-of-the art in the subject. The book features an amalgam of invited survey and research papers that will no doubt be accessed, read, and referred to, for several decades to come. The pertinence and potency of new concepts and methods are concretely illustrated in each contribution. Much of the content is a direct outgrowth of the Noncommutative Geometry conference, held March 23–April 7, 2017, in Shanghai, China. The conference covered the latest research and future areas of potential exploration surrounding topology and physics, number theory, as well as index theory and its ramifications in geometry.

Synopsis Advances in Ring Theory by : Sergio R. López-Permouth

This volume consists of refereed research and expository articles by both plenary and other speakers at the International Conference on Algebra and Applications held at Ohio University in June 2008, to honor S.K. Jain on his 70th birthday. The articles are on a wide variety of areas in classical ring theory and module theory, such as rings satisfying polynomial identities, rings of quotients, group rings, homological algebra, injectivity and its generalizations, etc. Included are also applications of ring theory to problems in coding theory and in linear algebra.

Synopsis Non-Commutative Ring Theory by : Surender K. Jain

The papers of this volume share as a common goal the structure and classi- fication of noncommutative rings and their modules, and deal with topics of current research including: localization, serial rings, perfect endomorphism rings, quantum groups, Morita contexts, generalizations of injectivitiy, and Cartan matrices.

Synopsis Noncommutative Rings by : I. N. Herstein

Noncommutative Rings provides a cross-section of ideas, techniques, and results that give the reader an idea of that part of algebra which concerns itself with noncommutative rings. In the space of 200 pages, Herstein covers the Jacobson radical, semisimple rings, commutativity theorems, simple algebras, representations of finite groups, polynomial identities, Goldie's theorem, and the Golod–Shafarevitch theorem. Almost every practicing ring theorist has studied portions of this classic monograph.

Synopsis Noncommutative Motives by : Gonçalo Tabuada

The theory of motives began in the early 1960s when Grothendieck envisioned the existence of a "universal cohomology theory of algebraic varieties". The theory of noncommutative motives is more recent. It began in the 1980s when the Moscow school (Beilinson, Bondal, Kapranov, Manin, and others) began the study of algebraic varieties via their derived categories of coherent sheaves, and continued in the 2000s when Kontsevich conjectured the existence of a "universal invariant of noncommutative algebraic varieties". This book, prefaced by Yuri I. Manin, gives a rigorous overview of some of the main advances in the theory of noncommutative motives. It is divided into three main parts. The first part, which is of independent interest, is devoted to the study of DG categories from a homotopical viewpoint. The second part, written with an emphasis on examples and applications, covers the theory of noncommutative pure motives, noncommutative standard conjectures, noncommutative motivic Galois groups, and also the relations between these notions and their commutative counterparts. The last part is devoted to the theory of noncommutative mixed motives. The rigorous formalization of this latter theory requires the language of Grothendieck derivators, which, for the reader's convenience, is revised in a brief appendix.
