This book is a first. It fills a major gap in the market and provides a wide snapshot of intelligent technologies for inconsistency resolution. The need for this resolution of knowledge inconsistency arises in many practical applications of computer systems. This kind of inconsistency results from the use of various resources of knowledge in realizing practical tasks. These resources are often autonomous and use different mechanisms for processing knowledge about the same real world. This can lead to compatibility problems.

The book consists of 31 chapters in which the authors deal with multiple aspects of modeling, utilization and implementation of semantic methods for knowledge management and communication in the context of human centered computing. It is assumed that the modern human centered computing requires the intensive application of these methods as well as effective integration with multiple techniques of computational collective intelligence. The book is organized in four parts devoted to the presentation of utilization of knowledge processing in agent and multiagent systems, application of computational collective intelligence to knowledge management, models for collectives of intelligent agents, and models and environments tailored directly to human-centered computing. All chapters in the book discuss theoretical and practical issues related to various models and aspects of computational techniques for semantic methods, which are currently studied and developed in many academic and industry centers over the world. The editors hope that the book can be useful for graduate and PhD students of computer science, as well as for mature academics, researchers and practitioners interested in developing of modern methods for representation, processing and distribution of knowledge in the context of human centered computing and by means of computer based information systems. The field of agent and multi-agent systems is concerned with the development and evaluation of sophisticated, AI-based, problem solving and control architectures for both single and multi-agent systems. This book presents the proceedings of the 7th KES Conference on Agent and Multi-agent Systems – Technologies and Applications (KES-AMSTA 2013), held in Hue City, Vietnam, in May 2013. The KES-AMSTA 2013 conference provides an internationally respected forum for scientific research in the technologies and applications of agent and multi-agent systems. In all, 44 papers were selected for oral presentation and publication in this volume. Knowledge-based systems and solving knowledge integrating problems have seen a great surge of research activity in recent years. This book constitutes the proceedings of the 13th IFIP TC 8 International Conference on Computer Information Systems and Industrial Management, CISIM 2014, held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in November 2014. The 60 paper presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 98 submissions. They are organized in topical sections named: algorithms; biometrics and biometrics applications; data analysis and information retrieval; industrial management and other applications; modelling and optimization; networking; pattern recognition and image processing; and various aspects of computer security.

New approaches are needed that could move us towards developing effective systems for problem solving and decision making, systems that can deal with complex and ill-structured situations, systems that can function in information rich environments, systems that can cope with imprecise information, systems that can rely on their knowledge and learn from experience - i.e. intelligent systems. One of the main efforts in intelligent systems development is focused on knowledge and information management which is regarded as the crucial issue in smart decision making support. The 13 Chapters of this book represent a sample of such effort. The overall aim of this book is to provide guidelines to develop tools for smart processing of knowledge and information. PRIMA 2008 was the 11th in a series of conferences gathering researchers - voted to developing intelligent agents and multi-agent technologies from Asia and the Paci?c regions. From its ?rst incarnation over a decade ago, PRIMA has emerged as a signi?cant international forum, facilitating the exchange and dissemination of innovative research from around the globe. PRIMA 2008 was held in Vietnam, a tribute to this country’s emerging s- enti?c vitality and importance as a developing innovation center. The Program Committee received 56 submissions from 20 countries. Many of these papers are the work of PhD or Masters students from Asian countries including - rea, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Iran, India, and Vietnam. In accordance with the rules, each submission was carefully peer-reviewed by three Program C- mittee referees. Only 19 submissions were accepted as regular papers, with a competitive rate of 33%. Additionally, the Program Committee decided to accept 22 short papers mainly written by graduate students, allowing our young colleagues an opp- tunity to present their work and new perspectives. These fresh perspectives enhanced our experienced of the conference and complemented the high quality of the professional papers submitted.
