Synopsis A Walk in the Garden of My Spirit by : Lucian A. Tower
I began writing song lyric, then came poetry, and short stories some 40- years-ago when I was 10-years-old. During the sixties in high school, I had the privilege of meeting The Poet Laureate of the United States, Mr. Robert Frost. He spoke with me discussing my poetry and my ideas. He told me to keep writing and reading, and as I continued I would learn so much more and eventually become a published poet. I have continued writing lyrics, poetry, and short stories. I am now 64-years old and I am published. I have always told other poets and writers to keep on writing, and learning about the many different styles of the written arts. The way I see writing poetry is a likeness to a photograph of a moment, a dream, a place, and a thing, a memory good or not so good. Life comes at us in many different ways, sometimes in many different ways at once. Its the situations that arise, the masks some people wear, the way they talk and rub shoulders with everybody. These things make up the poetry I write. When you sit down and look at life youll find its much bigger than just us. This is poetry, lyric writing, short stories from the imagination, journalism, and actually all the arts, they are great love affairs with life. I have found all things good in the written arts, even when Im turned down by an editor. Its all learning and enjoying what you do. So choose a photograph of a moment, a dream, or a situation, and then write about it. Create a picture with words of description. I live a simple life as a Disabled Veteran of the U.S.M.C., and the Vietnam War. However, I am simply who I am, and I dont try to say Im someone else. I am a human being who loves the arts. My message to you all whom read this is KEEP ON WRITING; KEEP ON KEEPING ON.

Synopsis Spirit of Place by : Bill Noble
“Delve into this beautiful book. You’ll come away sharing his passion for the beauty that gardens bring into our lives.” —Sigourney Weaver, environmentalist, actor, trustee of New York Botanical Garden How does an individual garden relate to the larger landscape? How does it connect to the natural and cultural environment? Does it evoke a sense of place? In Spirit of Place, Bill Noble—a lifelong gardener, and the former director of preservation for the Garden Conservancy—helps gardeners answer these questions by sharing how they influenced the creation of his garden in Vermont. Throughout, Noble reveals that a garden is never created in a vacuum but is rather the outcome of an individual’s personal vision combined with historical and cultural forces. Sumptuously illustrated, this thoughtful look at the process of garden-making shares insights gleaned over a long career that will inspire you to create a garden rich in context, personal vision, and spirit.

Synopsis Walking in the Spirit by : Kenneth Berding
Walking in the Spirit is a journey into what the Bible teaches about life in the Holy Spirit. Author Kenneth Berding uses the apostle Paul and his words in Romans 8 to model what it looks like to live both empowered and set free by the Spirit. Written at an accessible level, Berding speaks to a wide audience as he seeks to connect readers to the life of the Spirit. His practical guide covers a variety of topics, showing readers how to set their minds on the things of the Spirit, put to death the deeds of the body, be led by the Spirit, know the fatherhood of God, and hope and pray in the Spirit. Berding applies the Bible to life through many of his own personal experiences, helping readers make connections to their own spiritual journeys. Discussion questions for each chapter facilitate personal reflection and small-group study.

Synopsis God Walk by : Mark Buchanan
Drawing on Jesus's example of walking, bestselling author Mark Buchanan explores one of the oldest spiritual practices of our faith. What happens when we literally walk out our Christian life? We discover the joy of traveling at the speed of our soul. We often act as if faith is only about the mind. But what about our bodies? What does our physical being have to do with our spiritual life? When the Bible exhorts us to walk in the light, or walk by faith, or walk in truth, it means these things literally as much as figuratively. The Christian faith always involves walking out, as again and again we find the holy in the ordinary. "Come, follow me," Jesus said, and then he was off. The most obvious thing about Jesus's method of discipleship, in fact, is that he walked and invited others to walk with him. Jesus is always "on the way," "arriving," "leaving," "approaching," "coming upon." It's in the walking that his disciples are taught, formed, tested, empowered, and released. Part theology, part history, part field guide, God Walk explores walking as spiritual formation, walking as healing, walking as exercise, walking as prayer, walking as pilgrimage, suffering, friendship, and attentiveness. It is a book about being alongside the God who, incarnate in Jesus, turns to us as he passes by--always on foot--and says simply, "Come, follow me." With practical insight and biblical reflections told in his distinct voice, Buchanan provides specific walking exercises so you can immediately implement the practice of going "God speed." Whether you are walking around the neighborhood or hiking in the mountains, walking offers the potential to awaken your life with Christ as it revives body and soul.

Highly regarded Old Testament scholar John Goldingay offers a substantive and useful commentary on the book of Genesis that is both critically engaged and sensitive to the theological contributions of the text. Each series volume will cover one book of the Pentateuch, addressing important issues and problems that flow from the text and exploring the contemporary relevance of the Pentateuch. The series editor is Bill T. Arnold, the Paul S. Amos Professor of Old Testament Interpretation at Asbury Theological Seminary.
