Synopsis The Doctrine of Man's Future Eternity by : John Jackson

In this work, Jackson lays down biblically the doctrine of eternity, and the importance of man’s never dying soul that hangs in its balance. This being a fundamental point of Christian divinity, it should be “plainly proved, clearly explained, and powerfully applied to us.” He explains what eternity is in the final four basic tenants of Christian doctrine, death, judgment, heaven and hell. He then proves by Scripture the many infallible proofs that all mankind, at the end of this world, shall go in their bodies and souls into an everlasting condition, either of happiness or misery. Then he describes the misery of that everlasting condition of woe and punishment that the wicked shall go into at the end of the world. Afterward, he explains the happiness of the eternal state of glory and rest that the righteous shall go into at the last day; a most excellent and comforting exhortation. Following this, he takes a chapter to explain the principal reasons why all mankind after the day of judgment shall go in their bodies and souls into an everlasting condition, either of happiness or misery. Not only that it "will" happen, but the all important “why” it will happen. In the last chapter he directs the reader how to apply the great doctrine of man’s future eternity, in order to escape everlasting punishment, and obtain eternal life only in Jesus Christ, after this life is ended. This is a blessed treatise, deep in its power and application; a God-glorifying and Christ exalting work by this eminent divine. Synopsis The Worthy Churchman, or the Faithful Minister of Jesus Christ by : John Jackson

What makes a worthy minister of the Gospel? We know that only God can make a minister, but what characteristics should a minister and his ministry demonstrate in the eyes of the church? Jackson's work focuses on his exposition of the stones in the High Priest’s breastplate, as it is set down by Moses in Exodus 28:17-20, and the overlapping passage of Revelation 21:19-20 which concerns the stones seen in the walls of the New Jerusalem written by the Apostle John. Both the ministry of God’s servants in the Old Testament and New Testament have certain qualities represented in these stones. Jackson keenly explains these passages to demonstrate that ministers labor after the rich endowments and virtuous habits of grace, which they receive by co-working with God, and they do this by frequent repeated acts of prayer and preaching, to introduce such grace into their own soul and the souls of others by the power of God. The stones (sardius, topaz, emerald, carbuncle, sapphire, diamond, ligure, achate, amethyst, beryll, onyx, and jasper) show in each of their distinct respects, how a minister is to be worthy of the office of a servant, a comfort to the people, a light or fire in preaching the word, a chaste and holy man, one with a mind set on heaven, and the ability to bring the people "up to God" in preaching and prayer, and much more. In Jackson's explanation of each stone, he demonstrates the office and disposition of every true minister of the Gospel, as well as the description of their work, in "the virtue" of the stones and the meaning behind "the color" of each stone. Synopsis How to Serve God in Private and Public Worship by : John Jackson

In this exhorting work, Jackson plows up the fallow ground of both your private and public service (your worship) to God, to present it in a more acceptable manner through the work of Christ. He outlines and exhorts you and your family in these duties as they are prescribed and regulated by the word of God. He will guide you through proper prayer, reading, worship, meditation, family instruction, the preparation of the Lord's Day, the reception of the sacrament, of hearing the word with profit, of Christian fellowship, and a host of other spiritual duties. Jackson will cause you to consider your degree of proficiency in these things, and direct you to the right course of action according to God's directives. His thoroughness is seen in the context of practical exhortations for sinners to comply to God’s requirements. He cites over 700 footnotes, all of which are Scriptural proofs of his encouraging words. This is a work that should sit alongside your bible to refer to daily. His goal is to raise your awareness in presenting your duties before God in the blood of Christ, and to do that which God requires and regulates in both private and corporate worship to the best of your ability as a Christian.
