But who's that dashing through the sky? It's Santa to the rescue... From the Winner of the Roald Dahl Funny Prize and the illustrator of the bestselling The Dinosaur that Pooped Christmas. The show turned him into a household name, causing him to be touted as the next James Bond. From a liberal upbringing in post-war Britain, boarding school escapades and life at RADA, Ogilvy enjoyed an acting career spanning more than fifty years, including TV show Upstairs, Downstairs and films Witchfinder General, No Sex Please: We're British and Death Becomes Her. His story plays host to a spectacular all-star cast including Boris Karloff, Hayley Mills, Penelope Keith, Derek Nimmo, Timothy Dalton, Derek Jacobi and Meryl Streep, and Ogilvy gives a vivid account from behind the scenes of the Golden Age of television and film. Synopsis Raising Frankie by : Brenda B. Moody
As a college student, he was blessed to become a student intern in the Information Technology (IT) department where he continued to increase his computer skills as a part-time computer lab assistant and a computer troubleshooter. These roles pushed his skilled to a brand-new level. “After the internship was over, I followed my instructor everywhere he went so I could learn everything I could. I even stayed after hours to glean from his knowledge.” His instructor told him that he had never met anyone like him before. Someone who was hungry for knowledge. After graduating with a degree in computer science, he was offered a part-time job in the IT department. That job later became full-time. As a contributing co-author to Raising Frankie, he visited his parents twice a week to proofread and suggest any changes he felt were necessary. They wanted to make sure he was comfortable with every line before it went to publication. Since he has embraced the book, the three of us hope readers will share its content to assist anyone they know who is or have dealt with ADHD. Brenda is a retired educator who lives with her husband in North Carolina. During her academic career, she served in several capacities in the educational arena. These positions included teaching academically gifted to disadvantaged and handicapped students in high school, high school assistant principal, and supervisor/director of Career Technical Education Programs. She has also taught on the community college level. In her community, she serves on several church auxiliaries to include serving as a deaconess, member of the senior usher board, and as a Sunday school teacher. Because of her experiences working with attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD)—via students and their teachers—she wanted to share her knowledge and experiences with others through Raising Frankie. She hopes that loving and living this work will positively impact the lives of others as it has the Moody family. Frankie L. Moody Sr. (Moody), coauthor, is a United States Army Veteran and a retired lieutenant with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Presently, he is actively serving as a church deacon, president of the male ushers, Security Team member, Cub Scout Den Leader, and as a literacy tutor (for adults) with Triangle South Literacy Works. He also is employed part-time to transport people to and from medical appointments. In his years of working with people, Moody often imparted words of wisdom and encouragement whenever the opportunity presented itself. Brenda and Moody worked passionately together to first of all understand the characteristics of ADHD. Secondly, to embrace Frankie’s diagnosis so they could help him to deal with whatever he may have encountered academically as well as socially during his formative years. Toward that end, Moody spent his days off each week serving as a teacher assistant’s when Frankie was in elementary school. He also chaperoned every field trip and assisted with all of his sport activities. During high school, we worked together as a team to support Frankie as needed—to include how to handle unwarranted bullying. During high school and college, we realized that Frankie needed space to make his own decisions. With that said, we were always available and ready to activate whatever actions as were necessary to help Frankie to be successful without encroaching on his “I can do it on my own” abilities.

Synopsis The Good People by : Peter Narvez
" Whether called "the good people," "the little people," or simply "them," fairies are familiar from their appearances in Shakespeare's plays, Disney's films, and points in between. In many cultures, however, fairies are not just the stuff of distant legend or literature: they are real creatures with supernatural powers. The Good People presents nineteen essays that focus on the actual fairies of folklore -- fairies of past and living traditions who affected, and still affect, people's lives in myriad ways.

Synopsis Flights of Fancy, Leaps of Faith by : Cindy Dell Clark
Through the mysteries and myths of Christmas and Easter, families balance the values of receiving and giving, of growth and sacrifice. Each aspect of the Santa myth, from his slide down a chimney to his big red suit, plays a part in a child's imagination. Through their offerings of milk and cookies and their letter writing, children bring their relationship to Santa into developing attitudes toward giving and receiving gifts. The Easter Bunny story, with its ritual egg hunt and baskets of brightly colored candy, is explored in terms of life and its possibility of growth. In these examples, Clark shows how children play an active role in constructing family rituals and cultural reality, since their willingness to make the stories their own helps to renew the traditions.

Synopsis Because I Said So by : Dawn Meehan
Yes, there are times when it’s appropriate to reason with your child, to patiently and eloquently explain why he or she needs to do as you ask. You might present convincing arguments like “Because it makes you strong”; “Because it will keep you safe”; “Because it’s good for you”; “Because it’s bad for you.” But there are times when the only thing that really makes sense is . . . “Because I said so!!” This book is a hilarious, honest romp through motherhood—the joys, the sleeplessness, the frazzled days, the unending carpooling, the in-house refereeing, the dieting (yeah, right), the worrying—and did we say, the joy? Here’s what some of that joy looks like—with excerpts straight from the book: • I tried to do the Buns of Steel video, but quickly realized that it wasn’t intended for people who have buns of pudding. • I felt like my head might explode. I kind of hoped it would so I could take a nice, peaceful ambulance ride out of there. • I was a little at a loss. I mean, those parenting books don’t tell you how to break up a fight over an imaginary friend. • Moms aren’t allowed to get sick more than one day a year. Single moms aren’t allowed to get sick ever. • Before you have children you can’t imagine yourself saying things like “Don’t put chocolate milk in your pants,” “Take the hot dog out of your nose,” or “Because I said so!” If you’re a mom-to-be or a mom in the trenches, you’ll love knowing that you’re not the only one out there who sometimes just figures it out as you go along—and sometimes can’t figure it out at all. But in the end, Dawn has these words of encouragement just for you: “Enjoy this time. Even when they make you crazy, these are the best days of your life.” And they really are, aren’t they?
