Synopsis The Secret Art of Dr. Seuss by : Audrey Geisel
These fabulous, whimsical paintings, created for his own pleasure and never shown to the public, show Geisel (a.k.a. Dr. Seuss) in a whole new light. Depicting outlandish creatures in otherworldly settings, the paintings use a dazzling rainbow of hues not seen in the primary-color palette of his books for children, and exhibit a sophisticated and often quite unrestrained side of the artist. 65 color illustrations.

Synopsis Jean-Michel Basquiat Drawing by : Fred Hoffman
The first book on the drawings and works on paper of this legendary cult artist. Published on the occasion of an exhibition of the same name, Jean-Michel Basquiat Drawing is the first book on the Schorr Collection of Basquiat’s works on paper. Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960–1988) was barely out of his teens when he rocketed to the center of New York’s art scene; he was 27 when he died of a heroin overdose. A friend of Keith Haring and Andy Warhol, and always controversial, Basquiat is now established as a major contemporary painter whose unique work continues to enthrall. Herbert and Lenore Schorr began collecting the work of Basquiat in 1981, before his first New York exhibition. During the artist’s seminal years of 1982–83, the Schorrs acquired several of his most important paintings, but in contrast to virtually every other early collector, the Schorrs also pursued and acquired a great number of works on paper both directly from the artist and from his first dealer. Their collection demonstrates the focus and ambition that the artist invested in the medium of drawing.

Synopsis A Passion for Drawing by :
Discover highlights from one of the world's most diverse and prestigious drawing collections. Two decades ago, art collectors Florence and Daniel Guerlain decided to focus their energies on shaping a collection of contemporary works on paper. In 2013 they donated a large part of their holdings--1,200 works in total--to the Centre Pompidou in Paris. This book includes exquisite full-page reproductions of one hundred drawings and offers readers the chance to experience the extraordinary scope of the Guerlain collection through spectacular contemporary examples from an often overlooked medium. Among the artists featured in the book are Robert Longo, Kiki Smith, Jorinde Voigt, Marcel Dzama, Catharina Van Eetvelde, and Sandra Vasquez de la Horra. Works by other artists who are better known for their painting, sculpture, and performance art, deepen and enhance our experience of their respective oeuvres. This volume opens with an interview with Florence and Daniel Guerlain, and continues with brief essays by curator Elsy Lahner about each of the artists and their artwork, while an essay by Isabelle Dervaux explores the significance of this collection.

Synopsis The Drawing Book by : Tania Kovats
The works in The Drawing Book, by artists, architects, sculptors, scientists, filmmakers and thinkers of all descriptions, attest to the versatility and immediacy of drawing. From first thoughts to finely wrought, elaborate artworks, from the lightest sketch in pencil to bold, gallery-wall installations, the medium is shown as an essential vehicle for creativity. The recent prominence of artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Eva Hesse, Chris Ofili, Rachel Whiteread, Ellen Gallagher, and a host of others who use drawing as a final means of expression, is addressed in both the works shown and essays by curators Kate Macfarlane and Katharine Stout, and art historian Charles Darwent. The Drawing Book takes us on a journey through five themes -- measurement, nature, the city, dreams, and the body. Each is richly illustrated with a diverse range of images, from the old masters -- Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli, Dürer -- through great Modernist pieces by Rodin, Picasso, Matisse, and on to the contemporary artists who are reviving drawing today. A new and unique approach to an age old medium.
