From EDITOR'S NOTEAfter carefully considering the position and importance of cinematic art in the revolution and construction, dear Comrade Kim Jong Il wrote the treatise "Theory of Cinematic Art" whichclarifies the theoretical and practical problems of cinematic art as a whole.This treatise gives a comprehensive and detailed account of all the aspects of creating and developing this form of art, such as lifeand literature, the cinema and directing, the character and the actor, images and shooting, the screen and fine art, scenery and music, artand creative work creation and guidance and so on.We are publishing "The Cinema and Directing" to follow "Life and Literature" from this "Theory of Cinematic Art" in a number oflanguages.
