Patient-Focused Care (PFC) can be broadly defined as "the redesign of patient care so that hospital resources and personnel are organized around patients rather than around various specialized departments." This book is organized in four sections. The first section describes the Cedars-Sinai's PFC project in detail. The second section focuses on the hospital-wide organizational systems required to support the patient-focused care models detailed in Section I. Section III moves from the PFC work redesign efforts to Cedars-Sinai's ambitious program to develop clinical practice guidelines and pathways for patient populations throughout the medical center.
