Synopsis Rainbow Around the Moon by : Malcolm Leviatt Rosholt
One of Malcolm Rosholts passions has been to preserve in writing our history and traditions for the enjoyment of future generations. He has written over 25 books on the lives and cultures of other people and nations. Now at 96 years old he has written about his life and his rich family history. The first part of Rainbow Around the Moon starts with the arrival in America of the Rosholts in 1845. They moved to the territory of Wisconsin in 1847. Here they stayed and helped build early Wisconsin. The town of Rosholt still bears their name. The photos and stories of Wisconsins past and present are fascinating. The next part of the book tells of Malcolms participation in the China, Burma, India theater of operations leading up to and including WWII. Being an officer in the Army Air Corps and a journalist gave Malcolm a unique view into the war. His view of the war, based on his actual experiences is enlightening. He grew to love China and its people telling many stories of their unique life and culture. The third part of the book tells of Malcolms travels and the people he met, like Pearl Buck, John Birch, Claire Lee Chennault and many others. This book of 272 pages is filled with over 250 rare, new and old photos. This history of the Rosholt family shows clearly why the immigrants came to this country and what this country had to offer them if they were willing to work and fight for it. It is a testimonial to them and all the others that came to this county and made it great.

Synopsis Moon on a Rainbow Shawl by : Errol John
Moon on a Rainbow Shawl by Errol John depicts the vibrant, cosmopolitan of Port-of-Spain, Trinidad - a world that is as harsh as it is filled with colour and warmth. Esther - if yer have yer head screw on right - No matter where yer go - One night - some time - Yer reach up - yer touch that moon. For the teeming populace of Old Mack's cacophonous yard in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, it's a cheek by jowl existence lived out on a sweltering public stage. Snatches of calypso compete with hymn tunes, drums and street cries as neighbours drink, brawl, pass judgment, make love, look out for each other and crave a better life. But Ephraim is no dreamer and nothing, not even the seductive Rosa, is going to stop him escaping his dead-end job for a fresh start in England. Set as returning troops from the Second World War fill the town with their raucous celebrations, Erroll John's Moon on a Rainbow Shawl depicts a vibrant, cosmopolitan world that is as harsh as it is filled with colour and warmth. First published by Faber in 1958, Moon on a Rainbow Shawl was revived at the National Theatre, London, in March 2012. 'A brawling, laughing, bitter sense of life courses through Moon on a Rainbow Shawl. Errol John fills the stage with people of flesh and blood; he communicates the harshness and tension in this steaming, crowded corner of Port-of-Spain. He writes with such warmth and understanding that the problems and characters of a mean backyard in Trinidad assume a validity for a multitude of teeming, troubled places on this planet.' New York Times 'Errol John's seminal Caribbean drama deserves to be recognised as a twentieth-century classic.' Independent on Sunday

Synopsis The Book of the Moon by : Maggie Aderin-Pocock
The BBC’s “face of space” explores all things lunar in this comprehensive guide to the folklore, facts, and possible futures of our only natural satellite. So has Dr. Maggie Aderin-Pocock, astronomer and host of the BBC’s docuseries, The Sky at Night. In this lucidly written guide, Aderin-Pocock takes readers on a fascinating lunar journey. Aderin-Pocock begins with a basic overview—unpacking everything from the moon’s topography and composition to its formation and orbit around the Earth. Looking to the future, she delves into the pros and cons of continued space travel and exploration. Throughout the book are sidebars, graphs, and charts to enhance the facts as well as black-and-white illustrations of the moon and stars.

A Time Magazine 100 Best Fantasy Books of All Time selection! A Reader’s Digest Best Children’s Book of All Time! This stunning fantasy inspired by Chinese folklore is a companion novel to Starry River of the Sky and the New York Times bestselling and National Book Award finalist When the Sea Turned to Silver In the valley of Fruitless mountain, a young girl named Minli lives in a ramshackle hut with her parents. In the evenings, her father regales her with old folktales of the Jade Dragon and the Old Man on the Moon, who knows the answers to all of life's questions. Inspired by these stories, Minli sets off on an extraordinary journey to find the Old Man on the Moon to ask him how she can change her family's fortune.
