Synopsis BUILDING BLOCKS OF THE MIND:A Powerful Protocol For Clearing Mental Distress by : Peter Owen
Peter Owen is one of the few Master Practitioners of Percussive Suggestion Technique (PSTEC) in the world. PSTEC is a system of therapy tools which have been creating shockwaves amongst the psychological community. The author has worked with well over 1000 clients and in doing so has devised a system which can be applied to almost any psychological problem. As well as providing step by step details, he also gives countless real world examples of the process in action. Peter demonstrates the sheer power of the array of PSTEC tools as well as what to do when things don't go smoothly. There are comprehensive notes on grief, anxiety, OCD, anger, self hate, suicidal thoughts, post traumatic stress & so much more. Existing PSTEC therapists will learn novel approaches to issues which can only come from years of constant trial and error. CBT therapists & counsellors will see how they can plug in some of these methods to quickly overcome certain stumbling blocks which often crop up in the talking therapies.

Synopsis Race, Culture, and Ethnicity in Secure Psychiatric Practice by : Charles Kaye
People from ethnic minorities are overrepresented in secure psychiatric care, and have been reported to receive differential treatment from staff. It has been suggested that these people (especially Afro-Caribbean groups) suffer from prejudicial legal, criminal justice and psychiatric system. This text questions whether Western, white-oriented practice and systems of belief can, or should, be applied to service users from other cultural, racial, ethical or spiritual backgrounds.

Synopsis Sustainability and Human Resource Management by : Ina Ehnert
The role of HRM in developing sustainable business organizations is increasingly attracting attention. Sustainability can be used as a principle for HRM itself and the tasks of Sustainable HRM are twofold. On the one hand it fosters the conditions for individual employee sustainability and develops the ability of HRM systems to continuously attract, regenerate and develop motivated and engaged employees by making the HRM system itself sustainable. On the other hand Sustainable HRM contributes to the sustainability of the business organizations through cooperation with the top management, key stakeholders and NGOs and by realising economic, ecological, social and human sustainability goals. This book provides a comprehensive review of the new area of Sustainable HRM and of research from different disciplines like sustainable work systems, ergonomics, HRM, linking sustainability and HRM. It brings together the views of academics and practitioners and provides many ideas for conceptual development, empirical exploration and practical implementation. This publication intends to advance the international academic and practice-based debates on the potential of sustainability for HRM and vice versa. In 19 chapters, 26 authors from five continents explore the role of HRM in developing economically, socially and ecologically sustainable organizations, the concept of Sustainable HRM and the role of HRM in developing Sustainable HRM systems and how sustainability and HRM are conceptualized and perceived in different areas of the world.

Synopsis Class, Ethnicity, and Democracy in Nigeria by : Larry Diamond
The overthrow in January 1966 of Nigeria’s First Republic erased what had been regarded as perhaps the most promising prospect for liberal democracy in post-colonial Africa. Marking the sweeping failure of parliamentary institutions across a continent of new nations, it accelerated the slide into a ghastly civil war. Class, Ethnicity and Democracy is the first scholarly study to analyze the evolution, decay, and failure of Nigeria’s First Republic and to weigh this crucial experience against theories of the conditions for stable democratic government. Rejecting explanations that focus on political culture, political institutions, or ethnic competition and conflict, Larry Diamond identifies the root of Nigeria’s democratic failure in the interrelationship between class, ethnic and state structures. This led the emergent dominant class in each region to mobilize and exploit ethnicity and to trample the democratic process in furious competition for state control, since that control was the primary means for accumulating wealth and consolidating class dominance. Tracing the polarization of conflict and the erosion of legitimacy through five major crises, Diamond presents a new methodology for analyzing the persistence and failure of democracies and points to the relationship between state and society as a crucial determinant of the possibility for liberal democracy.

Synopsis Critical Issues in the History of Spaceflight by : Stephen J. Dick
In March 2005, the NASA History Division and the Division of Space History at the National Air and Space Museum brought together a distinguished group of scholars to consider the state of the discipline of space history. This volume is a collection of essays based on those deliberations. The meeting took place at a time of extraordinary transformation for NASA, stemming from the new Vision of Space Exploration announced by President George W. Bush in January 204: to go to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. This Vision, in turn, stemmed from a deep reevaluation of NASA?s goals in the wake of the Space Shuttle Columbia accident and the recommendations of the Columbia Accident Investigation Board. The new goals were seen as initiating a "New Age of Exploration" and were placed in the context of the importance of exploration and discovery to the American experiences. (Amazon).
