Synopsis Over Here by : Edward Humes
Here are the stories of some of the men and women returning from World War II, and how their lives changed because of the G.I. Bill of Rights, and how this country changed because of them. The effects were immediate and enduring--the suburbs, the middle class, America's ever-increasing number of college graduates, the lunar landing--all are tied to the G.I. Bill.

Synopsis No One Belongs Here More Than You by : Miranda July
Named a Top Ten Book of the Year by Time, the bestselling debut story collection by the extraordinarily talented Miranda July, award-winning filmmaker, artist, and author of All Fours. In No One Belongs Here More Than You, Miranda July gives the most seemingly insignificant moments a sly potency. A benign encounter, a misunderstanding, a shy revelation can reconfigure the world. Her characters engage awkwardly—they are sometimes too remote, sometimes too intimate. With great compassion and generosity, July reveals her characters’ idiosyncrasies and the odd logic and longing that govern their lives. No One Belongs Here More Than You is a stunning debut, the work of a writer with a spectacularly original and compelling voice.

Synopsis I Have a Story to Tell You by : Seemah C. Berson
I Have a Story to Tell You is about Eastern European Jewish immigrants living in Montreal, Toronto, and Winnipeg in the early twentieth century. The stories encompass their travels and travails on leaving home and their struggles in the sweatshops and factories of the garment industry in Canada. Basing her work on extensive interviews, Seemah Berson recreates these immigrants’ stories about their lives in the Old Country and the hardship of finding work in Canada, and she tells how many of these newcomers ended up in the needle trades. Revealing a fervent sense of socialist ideology acquired in the crucible of the Russian Revolution, the stories tell of the influence of Jewish culture and traditions, of personal–and organized–fights against exploitation, and of struggles to establish unions for better working conditions. This book is a wonderful resource for teachers of Canadian, Jewish, and social history, as well as auto/biography and cultural studies. The simplicity of the language, transcribed from oral reports, makes this work accessible to anyone who enjoys a good story.

Synopsis My Story by : Amy Richardson
My book tells my personal story in fiction form. I was abused by my husband. I loved him, forgave him, and trusted him each time that I went back to him. For outsiders looking in, many can not understand the stock home syndrome that a woman lives through. We as women are dependent on our abusers and are scared to leave. This book explains the honeymoon phases. They are not always bad to us. When it's good it's great. When it gets bad it's horrifying. We loose sight of what normal is. We lose our self respect, dignity, and strength. We lose our support systems such as family or friends outside of the relationship. We are alone, scared, and depressed. I went back one too many times and it ended in tragedy. But, I did survive. It is years later and I can finally face it and talk about it. This story is to help other abused women. I can relate to the cycles and the exhaustion that go along with them. This book is to tell other women I have been there, I understand, and there is hope.
