Synopsis The Land of Happiness: Reflections on a Journey by : Lindsey Arnold

Through language rich in descriptive imagery and thoughtful reflections, Lindsey Arnold conveys what daily life was like for her family while living and volunteering in The Land of Happiness, the Kingdom of Bhutan. She describes sacred sites where it is possible to witness such miracles as water emerging from stone, levitating statues and weeping paintings. She also describes her family's personal miracle-the adoption of a Bhutanese boy. More than a travel memoir, this is a guide for a spiritual journey about facing fears, letting go of control and embracing the unfolding of life. Included is a collection of original parables about abundance, awareness and compassion. Written from a perspective enriched with an inter-religious faith and a background in philosophy, this book presents not only a glimpse of Bhutanese Buddhist culture and Himalayan landscape, but also a look at a few of the spiritual lessons (blessings) that can be received on the path to finding happiness.

Synopsis Mother, Please Let Me Go by : H.D. Graham

This book is about my exciting and wonderful career in the United States Air Force. I listed my various assignment in the order in which they occurred and outlined the major events in my life while at each base. Every assignment had a lot of good points and some that wasn’t that great but I tried to focus on the exciting things. A large portion of the book deals with my assignments in Vietnam and events that still haunt me today. The events in the book start when I was a senior in high school trying to talk my Mother into giving me permission to enlist just as soon as I turn 17 years old. I also wrote about some of the interesting things while in high school and about my large family. I felt that it might be of interest to the reader to know that between all my brothers and I we accumulated over 170 years of military service to our country. I ended the book with some events that happened while I was teaching and the jetliner that I observed on 10 Sep 01 practicing for the flight across southern Pennsylvania that crashed on 9/11.

See his curiosity, his struggle to understand. Come and see the boy Amariah! See joy and laughter clutched dearly to his breast, glowing fireflies in a dark forest. Come...see the boy Amariah. See each agony experienced anew, each lash of the whip bright, bloody, and fresh. Come, see the boy Amariah. See and wonder what might become of such a wretch?

Synopsis Daddy's Little Girl and Mommy's Little Boy by : Zester Hatfield

Mr. Hatfield with all of his years of experience in marriage, parenting, family, missions and in the Church pulls no punches in calling Christ's Bride to return to His Truth (God's revealed Law-Word) regarding discipleship (men and women of faith and grace) in Manhood and Womanhood, outrageously successful spousal relations, parenting with training in romance, sexual satisfaction, love and marriage! He is calling all believers, especially men, to confession and repentance and to receive, understand and apply these Truths in the Power of the Holy Spirit as the only acceptable response in which God will revive and reform the Family and the Church in the 21st Century! Not for the weak-kneed, weak-minded or humanistically influenced, this is for Christ's Bride as we prepare for and anticipate His return! These applications of God's revealed Law-Word and His uncommon common sense in the lives of America's postmodern Christian culture and especially the promise of duplicating of these successes for love and marriage in our children, is exciting and challenging to the point of precedent setting magnitudes. The reader will experience riveting and exciting challenges to the status quo of our present day Christian culture. "Based on interviews with more than 1000 adults nationwide, the survey discovered that less than one out of every five adults believes that children under the age of 13 are being "superbly" or "pretty well" prepared for life emotionally, physically, spiritually, intellectually or physically. Fewer than one out of every twenty adults believes that America's youngsters are receiving above average preparation in all five of those areas of life." Americans Agree: "Kids Are Not Being Prepared for Life," The Barna Group-October 26, 2004 The couples, who discover the answers to the moral morass of our postmodern Christian culture, are those who know that the future of their children is in jeopardy and that we are in a war for the control of that future! Sadly, the statistics of broken homes, divorces, adultery, domestic violence, drugs and promiscuity - to mention only some of the ills of our culture - are almost equally divided between "Christian" families and non-Christian families. This is unacceptable as a comparison and must change. Consequently, fathers and mothers of faith and grace are those - who are and or who will experience - God's promise of victory over these fruits of our fallen nature and live a marriage experience that captures the best of God's gifts of love, sex and romance in marriage. Daddy's Little Girl and Mommy's Little Boy brings us clear evidence of just how America's Christian couples can have this victory in their marriage and how to duplicate this success in their sons and daughters.

Synopsis The Manager Mom Epidemic by : Thomas Phelan PhD

Are you a mom who does it all? This is the book for you. It's impossible to deny—most moms continue to do way more household work and childcare than most dads. Working full time, raising kids, cooking dinner, making sure every appointment and activity is lined up and that everyone gets there on time... no wonder you're tired! But despite all the books and articles lamenting the crushing mental load and emotional labor women bear for their families, no one has come up with a plan to actually make things change. Until now. The Manager Mom Epidemic is the first book that not only acknowledges the fact that moms are burning out, but shows you how to transfer responsibility for daily tasks from yourself to your partner and also (gasp!) your kids. Clinical psychologist and child discipline expert Thomas W. Phelan, PhD explains how we got into this mess in the first place, and how we can get out of it through a calm, systematic approach to teaching our families how to take initiative and contribute in meaningful ways. Dr. Phelan walks you through real-life situations and shows you how to step back from the things that are dragging you down. For example: Your Maternal Identity—the things you tell yourself you have to do in order to be a "good" mom The oppressive trap of chronic supervision Our society's curious underestimation of children's capabilities How to eliminate primary childcare with tweens and teens How to manager resistant or traditionalist dads Realistic and simple enough to implement in your home right away, The Manager Mom Epidemic provides a roadmap for you to take your life back and proves that the happiest families share the work and the fun equally.
