Synopsis Just Like a Mama by : Alice Faye Duncan
Celebrate the heart connection between adopted children and the forever families who welcome them with kindness, care, and unconditional love in this powerful picture book from the author of Honey Baby Sugar Child. Carol Olivia Clementine lives with Mama Rose. Mama Rose is everything—tender and sweet. She is also as stern and demanding as any good parent should be. In the midst of their happy home, Carol misses her mother and father. She longs to be with them. But until that time comes around, she learns to surrender to the love that is present. Mama Rose becomes her “home.” And Carol Olivia Clementine concludes that she loves Miss Rose, “just like a mama.” This sweet read-aloud is, on the surface, all about the everyday home life a caregiver creates for a young child: she teachers Clementine how to ride a bike, clean her room, tell time. A deeper look reveals the patience, intention, and care little ones receives in the arms of a mother whose blood is not her blood, but whose bond is so deep—and so unconditional—that it creates the most perfect condition for a child to feel safe, successful, and deeply loved.

Synopsis M Is for Mama by : Abbie Halberstadt
Mama of ten Abbie Halberstadt helps women humbly and gracefully rise to the high calling of motherhood without settling for mediocrity or losing their minds in the process. Motherhood is a challenge. Unfortunately, our worldly culture offers moms little in the way of real help. Mamas only connect to celebrate surviving another day and to share in their misery rather than rejoice in what God has done and to build each other up in hard times. There has a be a better way, a biblical way, for mamas to grow and thrive. As a daughter of Christ, you have been called to be more than an average mama. Attaining excellence doesn’t have to be unsettling but it will take committed focus and a desire to parent well according to God’s grace and for His glory. M is for Mama offers advice, encouragement, and scripturally sound strategies seasoned with a little bit of humor to help you embrace the challenge of biblical motherhood and raise your children with love and wisdom. Mama, you are worthy of the awesome responsibility God has given you. Now it’s time to start believing you can live up to it.

Synopsis Nissa's Place by : A. Lafaye
LaFaye surpasses the lyricism and emotional depth of her sparkling debut, The Year of the Sawdust Man, in this sequel. It's been two years since Nissa's mother, Heirah Rae, left the family and Depression-era Harper, La., for a new life in Chicago. Nissa, now 13, believes she must preserve her mother's presence in the household. When Heirah Rae calls home to announce her birthday gift to Nissa, a trip to Chicago, she upsets the tenuous relationship between Nissa, her father, Ivar, and her stepmother, Lara. Still feeling abandoned but hungry for time with her mother, Nissa decides to travel back to Chicago with Heirah Rae, who shows up on their doorstep. During her stay in Chicago, Nissa notes how her mother has blossomed away from Harper's nosy scandalmongers. LaFaye achieves just the right balance between Nissa's introspection and the adventures she has with her mother. The intricate prose mirrors the fragile complexity of Nissa's feelings about returning to Harper: ""My heart shrunk a little as the train pulled away, but I knew I'd made the right choice. I could feel it like a warm blanket on a cold nightAa tight, satisfied feeling deep down inside strong enough to carry me home."" Readers will be moved as Nissa comes to view Heirah Rae's flight as an act of courage and a spur for Nissa to make her own dream of a library in Harper come true is most successful when he mixes his different approaches into the original sort of magic realism he creates in the title tale, which concerns an erotically charged encounter between a virginal Irish au pair, Nula, and a Moroccan student, Henri Tatahouine, in Paris. The hallucinatory quality of Henri's account of his life leaves Nula emotionally blistered, as though she had been in the Sahara. The comic, horrifying """"Cats in Space,"""" which tells the tale of a group of kids who use helium balloons to launch a kitten into the air, is similarly effective. Though uneven, Kalfus's collection is ambitious and daring, with smart, fluid prose and an abundance of surprises.

Synopsis For the Love of Mama by : Ontra Rodgers Reddick
For the Love of Mama is a candid and explicit look into the life of a young, confused woman through the eyes of her daughter who is trying to make sense of her life while trying to find her own way. Mama made many choices and suffered the consequences of these choices she made based on her immediate needs for a specific season in her life. The book shows how her decisions not only affected her, but how these decisions also affected her children who basically went through life, trying to find out who they were and where they belonged. The book shows how on one hand, her children grew up with a desire for the “proud look” they had witnessed from their youth and, on the other hand, the humbleness she always seemed to possess. They each tried to blend the two and ended up with an insatiable need to prove something to the world and to themselves that could not be satisfied. None of them knew who they really were. They just imitated people they saw and wanted to be like without stopping to count the cost. You will witness in For the Love of Mama how the seeds of God’s grace and mercy prevailed throughout Mama’s life. For the Love of Mama will touch your heart, and it is guaranteed to stir your emotions. You will agree that Mama was really something special and God truly had His hands on her all her life.
