He also wrote numerous sea stories, and his best-known works are five historical novels of the frontier period known as the Leatherstocking Tales. The pathfinder: This fourth Leatherstocking tale finds the pathfinder, Natty Bumppo examining his role as an explorer for British/Colonial forces in the forests and islands around the Great Lakes. He, also falls in love for the first and only time in the novels, only to see his choice all in love with another man.
