The two young strangers discover that they share a bond, both missing memories of their past. Together, Ethan and Hayley are lured away, awakening at The Residence, a mysterious parallel world within our own. There, they unravel the mysteries of their tangled pasts and help the Caretakers protect the human world from the Grimleavers and their evil plans to enslave humanity.COMMENTARY: The series is sure to be a monster hit because in all honesty, Seer is a terrific writer and Ethan Fox and the Eyes of the Desert Sand is an amazingly good book. It is chock-full of characters, creatures, situations, and complications. But what makes it all work is that you just love Ethan, Hayley, Gruggins, and many of the other protagonists while viewing the antagonists, Victor, Daavic, the Grimleavers, and others of the story with equivalent disdain. Everything works because everything is built around them - Ethan and Hayley's situation, their fears, their strengths, and their mistakes. The new worlds, the new beings, the new ideas are wonderful creations but without those people, they mean nothing. Along the way, Seer brings forth an alternate reality, and through his vision, is sure to bring joy to millions.MEET THE AUTHOR: E. L. Seer is a pen name. Synopsis Fox World by : Jack Russell
Fox World, based on true events, takes the reader under the canopy of an urban forest on the outskirts of Washington, D.C. for a year-long walk with a weary sales executive and his muse, a wild red fox. Aged, ill and injured, both fox and man seek healing in their journey, not only for themselves, but for the ecologically stressed forest which is under siege. They are joined on their five-hundred-mile walkabout by the fox’s forest friends – owl, buck deer, hawk, blue heron, and raccoon, and each animal’s story illustrates why this small forest is so soothing and majestic in its allure. Starting in brutally cold winter, followed by the wettest summer on record, fox and man face daunting life challenges on their walks, from heart arrhythmia which ends the executive’s career to a coyote attack and critical illnesses faced by the elderly fox. And through these traumatic events, the two bond for survival, and the fox’s wild perspective teaches his human friend unforgettable lessons about healing, coping, serenity, wonderment, mindfulness, and simple treasures (e.g., the sun setting atop the great oaks, an owl serenade under moon beams, a shared cup of bison bone broth on an icy day). Drawn in by the plight of the fox’s forest as destruction looms, the man decides to take a stand and help the fox and his animal friends. Richly graced with gorgeous nature photos and infused with insights that can only be imparted by those who have come to genuinely appreciate life, Fox World is an exhilarating walk in the woods that you’ll never forget.

Synopsis The Fox and the Jewel by : Karen A. Smyers
The deity Inari has been worshipped in Japan since at least the early eighth century and today is a revered presence in such varied venues as Shinto shrines, Buddhist temples, factories, theaters, private households, restaurants, beauty shops, and rice fields. Although at first glance and to its many devotees Inari worship may seem to be a unified phenomenon, it is in fact exceedingly multiple, noncodified, and noncentralized. No single regulating institution, dogma, scripture, or myth centers the practice. In this exceptionally insightful study, the author explores the worship of Inari in the context of homogeneity and diversity in Japan. The shape-shifting fox and the wish-fulfilling jewel, the main symbols of Inari, serve as interpretive metaphors to describe the simultaneously shared yet infinitely diverse meanings that cluster around the deity. That such diversity exists without the apparent knowledge of Inari worshippers is explained by the use of several communicative strategies that minimize the exchange of substantive information. Shared generalized meanings (tatemae) are articulated while private meanings and complexities (honne) are left unspoken. The appearance of unity is reinforced by a set of symbols representing fertility, change, and growth in ways that can be interpreted and understood by many individuals of various ages and occupations. The Fox and the Jewel describes the rich complexity of Inari worship in contemporary Japan. It explores questions of institutional and popular power in religion, demonstrates the ways people make religious figures personally meaningful, and documents the kinds of communicative styles that preserve the appearance of homogeneity in the face of astonishing factionalism.
