The authors of A Disciple's Heart present Book Two in the Keys to Understanding Life Series, Feelings 101: Pain to Peace. Far from being "touchy-feely," Feelings 101: Pain to Peace focuses on a number of spiritual growth dynamics that we often overlook today. It aims to help us recognize when we are being attacked by Satan, and how to draw on who we are in Christ in order to engage more effectively in spiritual warfare. It examines the Scriptures' emphasis on awareness of our old and new selves and provides practical tools to hearing the Spirit's specific counsel and guidance in real-life trials with the heart. In illuminating how God designed our hearts to hear His voice, Feelings 101: Pain to Peace answers several important questions including: How are we to exercise our God-designed free will to fight our sinful nature and become seasoned disciples of Christ? How can we transform unwanted feelings to peace in any situation? How does the Spirit attempt to lead us through our hearts, and how do we hear Him? How can we use everyday life situations to renew our minds (Romans 12:2)? ---- This father and son team combines a variety of experiences including formal theological education, creating spiritually intimate fellowships, and teaching powerful personal transformation skills possible in Christ. From their home in Texas, they help others learn how to enjoy the enriching and interactive life of being a disciple of Christ. Synopsis The Bloomsbury Research Handbook of Emotions in Classical Indian Philosophy by : Maria Heim
Drawing on a rich variety of premodern Indian texts across multiple traditions, genres, and languages, this collection explores how emotional experience is framed, evoked, and theorized in order to offer compelling insights into human subjectivity. Rather than approaching emotion through the prism of Western theory, a team of leading scholars of Indian traditions showcases the literary texture, philosophical reflections, and theoretical paradigms that classical Indian sources provide in their own right. The focus is on how the texts themselves approach those dimensions of the human condition we may intuitively think of as being about emotion, without pre-judging what that might be. The result is a collection that reveals the range and diversity of phenomena that benefit from being gathered under the formal term “emotion”, but which in fact open up what such theorisation, representation, and expression might contribute to a cross-cultural understanding of this term. In doing so, these chapters contribute to a cosmopolitan, comparative, and pluralistic conception of human experience. Adopting a broad phenomenological methodology, this handbook reframes debates on emotion within classical Indian thought and is an invaluable resource for researchers and students seeking to understand the field beyond the Western tradition.

Synopsis Psychosocial Approaches to Peace-Building in Colombia by : Stella Sacipa-Rodriguez
This edited volume summarizes the work of a research group, called Social Bonds and Cultures of Peace that accompanies and supports victims of socio-political violence in Columbia. The individual chapters focus on the ongoing violence in the Colombian context, a complex and dynamic area in which various groups (drug traffickers, national armed forces, guerrilla fighters, self-defence groups) have been engaged in organized violence for more than 60 years. Emphasis is placed on the psychological consequences of violence and various forms of psychosocial support that psychologists have been providing to the victims of violence. Central to their work is the notion of "accompanying" those who have been victims of violence, listening to them, engaging them in dialogue and working together to strengthen the resources of victims. The recovery of individual and collective memories of atrocities is discussed as an important avenue for healing and for the empowerment of individuals and groups. The solidarity among victims creates opportunities at the grassroots level to pursue truth, reveal perpetrators of violence, seek public acknowledgment and attain social justice. For perpetrators of violence and members of armed groups, the book addresses a host of psychosocial issues related to disarming, demobilizing and reintegrating former combatants, including children, into society. Throughout the book, in the spirit of peace psychology, the researchers are engaged in a form of praxis that is cognizant of the wider geohistorical context within which victims and perpetrators are embedded and the dialectical relationship between micro and macro-level events and change. Researchers in Latin American studies, peace psychology, social justice and transitional justice, will find this volume to be an excellent resource.

Synopsis Undrugged: Sleep by : Dr. Lori Arnold PharmD
Sleepless in America is not a Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks movie. This is a real-life drama fueled by the performance anxiety that keeps you up all night worrying about being up all night. If you battle nightly dream stealers, you are one of fifty to seventy million American adults with chronic sleep disorders. We live in a take a pill and go to sleep era. Like Pavlovs dogs, insomnia-plagued Americans have been trained to pop a pill to reap a sleep reward, expecting to immediately fall asleep and stay asleep, with little or no effort. The path of least resistance offers an easy way out rather than focusing on the root cause of the insomnia. What do you hope to achieve by taking a sleeping pill? You hope to achieve a blissful state of restful and rejuvenating sleep, allowing you to then work better, think better, and function better the next day. You hope that prescription sleep aids will be a temporary fix and will not result in long-term use or dependence. Expectations and actual experiences may vastly differ, often yielding more disappointing results than anticipated. Your health choices are being unfairly influenced by clever pharmaceutical marketing propaganda, resulting in a destructive drug path plagued with dangerous side effects, interactions, drug-induced diseases, nutrient depletions, and even addiction. If sleeping pills are the problem, Undrugged Sleep is the solution that will help you embark on a personal healing journey. Becoming more aware of sleep drugs health-impairing issues will help motivate you to remove the drug insult, correct the root cause, and ultimately replace the drug with safer natural solutions. A functional medicine approach offers insomnia drug alternatives, combining sleep hygiene, nutrition, and nutraceuticals. No more Band-Aid approaches to healing; Undrugged Sleep is a true drug-free solution that will restore rejuvenating rest and have you sleeping like a baby in no time.
