Synopsis Echoes of the Most Holy by : Andre Reis
The Levitical Day of Atonement was a day of penitence, confession, and judgment for Israelites of loyal character and a day of covenant renewal for the nation of Israel. On this day, sin was removed from the tabernacle through the application of sacrificial blood to its altars and compartments, as well as by the dismissal of the goat for Azazel, which carried all the community’s sin to a “barren land.” As it became ingrained in the veil of Jewish consciousness, the Day of Atonement underwent a “process of abstraction” over many centuries leading up to Second Temple times, when the Most Holy Place lay devoid of the ark of the covenant and its mercy seat. Continuing to reverberate in the Jewish imaginaire, the Day of Atonement was received by the authors of the New Testament, including John of Patmos, to whom its sacrificial typology provided irresistible motifs which they used to proclaim “the Christ event.” By utilizing a coherent intertextual approach, this book explores how John wove the Day of Atonement into the colorful literary tapestry of Revelation.

Synopsis A New Day by : Sue Mell
For fans of Lily King’s Five Tuesdays in Winter, a contemporary short story collection that explores the depths of everyday humanity and the universal yearning for new beginnings. Linked by their personal and professional relationships, the characters in these thirteen stories—all set between 1982 and 2012—struggle to achieve happiness and success. A coke-fueled night with a photographer costs a young woman her job in the display department of Bloomingdale’s, but holds a hidden promise. A sculptor tries to resurrect his relationship with an old flame on the same day her best friend is undergoing a bone marrow transplant. An aspiring actress drifts from house-sit to house-sit until an armed robbery at the restaurant where she works makes her question a lifelong pattern of impermanence. Moody, elegiac, and full of longing, with ricocheting themes of desire and loss, A New Day’s stories are steeped in the highs and lows inherent in the pursuit of love and creative expression.

Synopsis A New Day Dawns by : Pieter KL Pretorius
It is long after dark when they arrive at the homestead. Martin knocks frantically on the front door. Almost immediately, the door opens. There stands Martin with his clothes, still drenched in blood. The farmer and his wife stand before him shocked. The woman screams when she sees the blood. Deep grooves are engraved on Martin’s pale face, from grief and suffering. ‘Sir, please can you help me? My baby fell off the wagon, and the iron wheels have crushed him. My wife faints continually, and I haven’t got anywhere else to go,’ Martin pleads with the farmer.

Elena Winters thought she'd left her coastal hometown behind, but when personal tragedy calls her back, she's pulled into an investigation as murky as Echoes' ocean tides. As the town prepares for its dazzling annual festival, Elena uncovers a pattern of disappearances that echo through the years, each one whispering of hidden secrets and a dark undercurrent beneath the town's quaint veneer. Enter Nathan Hale—a young detective whose steely gaze and earnest resolve make Elena's heart flutter as much as her reporter's instinct. Together, they delve into Echoes' past, unraveling a tangled history that binds the fate of the town to a secretive society. With the festival drawing near, Elena and Nathan race to piece together clues that are as enigmatic as the shifting sands of Echoes' beaches. But it's not just the mystery Elena has to contend with.
