Synopsis Tracks of Change by : Ritika Prasad
From the mid-nineteenth century onwards, railways became increasingly important in the lives of a growing number of Indians. While allowing millions to collectively experience the endemic discomforts of third-class travel, the public opportunities for proximity and contact created by railways simultaneously compelled colonial society to confront questions about exclusion, difference, and community. It was not only passengers, however, who were affected by the transformations that railways wrought. Even without boarding a train, one could see railway tracks and embankments reshaping familiar landscapes, realise that train schedules represented new temporal structures, fear that spreading railway links increased the reach of contagion, and participate in new forms of popular politics focused around railway spaces. Tracks of Change explores how railway technology, travel, and infrastructure became increasingly woven into everyday life in colonial India, how people negotiated with the growing presence of railways, and how this process has shaped India's history.

Synopsis Track Changes by : Matthew G. Kirschenbaum
Writing in the digital age has been as messy as the inky rags in Gutenberg’s shop or the molten lead of a Linotype machine. Matthew Kirschenbaum examines how creative authorship came to coexist with the computer revolution. Who were the early adopters, and what made others anxious? Was word processing just a better typewriter, or something more?

Synopsis The Lava Tube by : Rosemary Burke
We all have a story. People’s stories can make us laugh or cry, trigger joy or fear, inspire us or challenge us to step up and act. Rosemary’s book is more than just a story. In telling her story, Rosemary shares her struggle with mental illness and the attitudes of those around her, laced with hope, recovery, and the grace of God. Rosemary explains in simple and engaging terms her own journey through various treatments, attitude changes, and management techniques for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). She gives constructive insights into the tension between oversimplified responses framed in spiritual language and the clinical explanations of medical practitioners. The beauty and power of this book is in the healthy perspectives that combine spiritual power and medical evidence. These life-changing perspectives break down the stigma of mental illness, especially among believers, and give hope through well-researched practical information and resources. Ultimately, this is an engaging journey of transformation from crippling fear, guilt, and anxiety to joyful hope, recovery, and freedom. It is an informative journey of the heart, soul, mind, and body.

Synopsis Blackstone's Civil Practice 2013 by : Prof Stuart Sime
Providing detailed commentary of unrivalled quality on the process of civil litigation, this is the only major civil work to adopt a narrative approach based on the chronology of a claim. Written by a team of expert practitioners and academics, it provides authoritative analysis on the process of civil litigation from commencement of a claim to enforcement of judgments, addressing civil procedure in the county courts, the High Court, the Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court. The book also considers more specialist matters such as insolvency proceedings, sale of goods, and human rights, providing expert analysis on a comprehensive level. Commentary is combined with the text of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), Practice Directions (PD), and Pre-Action Protocols and Procedural Checklists, all fully cross-referenced to the text to ensure ease of use for the busy practitioner. As well as a detailed and user-friendly index the quick-reference guide inside the front cover provides an alternative point of access for those more familiar with the CPR. Also available, Blackstone's Civil Practice: The Commentary 2013 is a concise new book providing the unique commentary independently from the CPR, PD and other appendix materials. Electronic versions of the Procedural Checklists in Blackstone's Civil Practice 2013 are available from IRIS Laserform.
