This monograph presents a detailed report on the social behaviour and ecology of a previously little known species, the capped langur (presbytis pileata). The author observed capped langurs at Madhupur National Park in Bangladesh, where they live in small one-male groups. This account of his 15-month field study focuses on the relationships among one-male groups and the influence of ecology and seasonal variation in diet upon social behaviour. patterns and aspects of intra-group and intergroup behaviour, whch are then used to test predictions of traditional ecological models of primate social systems. Features of the capped langur's behaviour and ecology that differ from previously studied colobine monkeys are also described in detail.

This study identifies five alternative strategies and, using CSIS’s Force Cost Calculator, builds a cost-capped force structure, modernization program, and readiness profile for each strategy. It then stress-tests each strategy against four sets of simultaneous conflict scenarios, which the authors devised. The study explores potential ways to mitigate the fiscal pressure forcing these strategic tradeoffs. It concludes by making recommendations for the FY 2017 defense budget and the next Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR).

This book introduces some alternative methods for enhancing the performance of In(Ga)As/GaAs-based quantum dot infrared photodetectors (QDIPs). In(Ga)As/GaAs-based QDIPs and focal plane array (FPA) cameras have wide application in fields such as military and space science. The core of the study uses a combination of quaternary In0.21Al0.21Ga0.58As and GaAs spacer as a capping layer on In(Ga)As/GaAs quantum dots in the active region of the detector structure. For the purposes of optimization, three types of samples growths are considered with different capping thicknesses. The results presented include TEM, XRD and photoluminescence studies that compare combination barrier thickness and its effect on structural and optical properties. Compressive strain within the heterostructure, thermal stability in high temperature annealing, spectral response, shifts in PL peaks peak,and responsivity and detectivity are all considered. The results also present a narrow spectral width that was obtained by using InAs QDs which is very useful for third generation FPA camera application. The book details effect of post-growth rapid thermal annealing on device characteristics and methods to enhance responsivity and peak detectivity. The contents of this book will be useful to researchers and professionals alike.

Ritwik Ghatak's The Cloud-Capped Star (Meghe Dhaka Tara, 1960) has been hailed as 'one of the great classics of world cinema' (Adrian Martin), and 'one of the five or six greatest melodramas in cinema history' (Serge Daney). A striking blend of modernist aesthetics and melodramatic force, it is arguably the best-known film by Ghatak, widely considered to be one of the most original, politically committed, and formally innovative film-makers from India.
