Synopsis Passport to Heaven by : Micah Wilder

“You have a call, Elder Wilder.” When missionary Micah Wilder set his sights on bringing a Baptist congregation into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he had no idea that he was the one about to be changed. Yet when he finally came to know the God of the Bible, Micah had no choice but to surrender himself—no matter the consequences. For a passionate young Mormon who had grown up in the Church, finding authentic faith meant giving up all he knew: his community, his ambitions, and his place in the world. Yet as Micah struggled to reconcile the teachings of his Church with the truths revealed in the Bible, he awakened to his need for God’s grace. This led him to be summoned to the door of the mission president, terrified but confident in the testimony he knew could cost him everything. Passport to Heaven is a gripping account of Micah’s surprising journey from living as a devoted member of a religion based on human works to embracing the divine mercy and freedom that can only be found in Jesus Christ.

Synopsis The Liquor Problem in All Ages by : Daniel Dorchester

"This volume has not been a hot-bed growth, but is the result of twenty-two years of special attention to the various questions comprised within its scope. It was originally undertaken as a relaxation from the regular duties of the Christian ministry, and, though not pursued continuously, but at irregular intervals, sometimes of more than a year, few days have passed without some serious thought and inquiry with reference to the great problem. The plan of discussion of the Liquor Problem is historical. The argument is quietly implied in the general structure of the book, and gathered to a focus in the three closing chapters. The historical portion of the book is brought down to near the end of 1883. While the author has made himself acquainted with what has been written by others upon the topics under consideration, and has fully credited his indebtedness for valuable materials, he has also made extensive original researches, enabling him to bring together much fresh matter not before comprised in volumes of temperance literature. An important feature of this book is eleven colored diagrams, strikingly illustrating the economic aspects of intemperance, and its relative progress to the population in the British Isles and in the United States. It has been the aim to make this volume a thesaurus of facts and principles, so arranged as to show the trend of temperance sentiment, and also to be convenient for use by advocates of the Temperance Reform, now a great multitude -- Nov. 1, 1887. -- This book is now closely revised , and brought down to the year 1888. The developments and movements of the past few years are summed up in a large additional chapter, and valuable material for the use of students and advocates of the temperance cause is added, adapting the book to the present phase of the great reform -- January 1, 1888."--

Synopsis The Advance of the Lord's Recovery Today by : Witness Lee

Throughout the centuries of church history the Lord has progressively carried out His work of recovery. In this book, Witness Lee shows that the Lord's present advance is to recover the priesthood of the gospel, the organic building up of the Body of Christ, the perfecting of the believers, and the speaking of God's word for the building of the Body of Christ. He concludes with help as to how we can practice these four matters.

Synopsis Watchman Nee—A Seer of the Divine Revelation in the Present Age by : Witness Lee

I consider Watchman Nee to be a unique gift given by the Head to His Body.... I fully respect him as such a gift....I am more than grateful to the Lord that immediately after being saved I was brought into such a profitable relationship with Watchman Nee and put into the closest relationship with him in the work of His recovery through so many events over a long period of time. The revelations concerning Christ, the church, the Spirit, and life which I saw through Watchman Nee, the infusions of life which I received from him, and the things concerning the work and the church which I learned from him will require eternity to evaluate their true worth.
